Let's not forget the laporter cosied up to the JRFU to save his and Beaumonts jobs at the World Rugby organisation back when it looked the game was going to move forward with Pichot in charge. Japan then voted against the SH/Pacific block and crucially backed Laporte and Beaumont with several backwards moves to the game. One could only speculate as to what the JRFU received for these moves.

Considering that it obvious that Japan's rugby future lies in an expanded SH Rugby Championship, will they be regretting their backing of Laporte?

If it looks dodgy, smells dodgy, seems dodgy, chances are it's quite dodgy.

Rugby is following the Olympics, World Football and Athletics into the world of corruption, bribery, shady agreements and dubious influences, as the sport focuses more on the advertising, money and sponsorship than the game and players.

Too bad, it was once a great game.
