Congratulations, "G-Men," and congratulations, Mr. "Eli-te." You've proven that you are an elite QB after all. I can't wait to watch again.

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, M.I.A.—real name, Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam—flipped a middle finger to the camera while singing a four-letter word that is part of “Luvin”‘s original lyrics

Bill BellaCheat got what he and his Patriots deserved. Love the last play of the game though. Very scary Hail Mary.

Now about the middle finger. Is that part of Freedom of Speech? The lyrics didn't personally direct it at anyone specifically. The media went into a frenzy though.

I was wondering how Nicki Minaj hides her....you know......her Super Bass. I guess cause it was the the SuperBowl she had to hide her asset. I'm not joking here, I'm serious. I'm wondering if NBC told her to cover it up or try to hide it. I'm so curious.

Now, on to more important things: who won the Super Bowl ad wars? We're still debating that, hahaha................

My vote is for Chrysler and GM.

Congratulations to the Giants on a well and hard fought victory. Wes Welker is going to remember that drop for the rest of his life and Bill Belechik is going to have nightmares of that last Giants drive. A game to remember.

@MeanRingo, personally I would have gone down on 5th down when I was on my own 25; with a QB punting a slam dunk downfield into the offense during a timeout, before the bucket of cold water ruined my designer shoulder pads, so that the Refrigerator could hit the Rock with a steel chair in the cage, as Jerry Springer tried to restrain Madonna from giving the Finger to 5 Cents (approx 280 yen) as Mitt Newtrich tried to get in her knickers... bla-di-fecking-bla, American sport, what a load of bollocks. Anyway, have you heard the joke about that moron, sorry, mormon Romney when he was preaching in Germany: "Hi, I'm Mitt Romney". Puzzled German.. " Vell, Vere is Romney??" JTers, rage for 10 secs before moderator gets back from the can. (Or, mod, you could take a break, have a drink, and enjoy life for once..!)

If only I could have gotten my 3 and 0 in the third...well thats a couple hundred I'm not getting back. Ah well, still won betting against the spread at least that softened the loss a little.

And personally, I would have let them score a few plays earlier when there was more time left. Mind you, in any Madden I've ever played, I also go on fourth down when I'm on my own 10. Just makes things interesting.

Thanks Paulinusa. One thing that always cracks me up is that come Super Bowl, the non-fans (ie Virtuoso (obviously not on the field)) come out in droves pretending they know what they're talking about.

Anyhoo, it was a great game. A little odd with the safety, but fun to watch. Eleisha must be happy. Really, what kind of name for a QB is that? Still don't think he's better than Peyton. Can't wait for next season.

I wondered why my downloads weren't available on Monday.... the bowly super thing was on... do people outside of the States actually care about this? (Sycophantic Japan excluded).

I'm not a Giants fan and I don't like the Pats, but this was an amazing game! I think I will watch it again!

@Virtuoso,

Bradshaw stopped at the 1/2-yard line, turned around and fell across the goal line backwards while feigning to sit down. It was not only reckless, but a sign of immaturity and poor sportsmanship. I think the coach should slap him with a heavy fine. It was a blot on an otherwise exciting game.

You need to learn a bit more about game strategy. With time running out, the Giants were in the driver's seat and could put the game on ice by using up as much of the remaining clock as possible before giving the ball back to the Patriots. The Patriots needed to get the ball back with as much time on the clock as possible. Considering where the ball was the Patriots were conceeding that the Giants were going to get a go-ahead score and they had two options: fight it out and hope for a turnover (extremely unlikely) or "part the seas" and let the runner score untouched - preserving as much of the clock as they could. They chose the latter.

Bradshaw entered the line of scrimmage expecting resistance, but when he realized there WAS none, he tried to stop but his momentum carried him over the goal line. This wasn't grandstanding on his part, just a great example of Newton's First Law of Motion.

Great finish by Giants! Interesting that Eli has this moment on his brother's field.

Was at a Super Bowl party with friends and kids - everybody was watching the last several minutes! That was a good game and another great ending! The Manningham catch was the Tyree moment! The Geeeeeeeeeee-Men pwwwwwwwwwwnz the Patriots the last 4 years - offense puts butts on the seats, but defense definitely wins championships (just ask the Crimson Tide too)!

The Giants are making a habit of winning when they're not favored and have to play away from home. Even at the Super Bowl, they were dropping like flies to injury, including their top 2 TEs (thus they stopped throwing to TEs after being effective early in the game). In their last few plays, we thought that if WR Nicks would had stayed in-bounds after the 1st down or if Bradshaw would had sat on the 1-yard line (it was obvious the Patriots weren't really trying to stop him - they were just standing), then the game should be over by now. But in the ending, it was Eli and the Giants WRs who made plays, while Brady and the Patriot receivers were out of sync. Who would've thought that Eli would have more rings than Peyton right now? I think they will be the first QB brothers in the Hall of Fame - their dad must be proud.

Now, on to more important things: who won the Super Bowl ad wars? We're still debating that, hahaha................

Hi, paulinusa. Belichick is as good as any coach in the business in my opinion. These kind of choices are made in split-seconds with the world watching and then debating. I can see the logic of what Belichick did; 60 seconds with Tom Brady's hands on the ball is often a safe bet for NE. I just miss the days when coaches got their teams together on the sidelines during a time out and yelled, "This is it men!" Didn't see the game (sigh) but have heard and read that it was another classic. Congrats to the Giants and Pats for proving why football is such a popular sport.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

samwatters: The decision for NE was to either allow the touchdown and have to score a touchdown with about a minute left or let the Giants run the clock down, kick the field goal and then have about ten seconds to kick their own field goal. Belichick was asked after the game if he regretted any decisions he made and while he didn't elaborate, he hinted he did.

"Belichick acknowledged that the Patriots purposely allowed Bradshaw to score." Kind of disappointing. Whatever happened to mounting a goalline stand? I remember when the San Francisco beat the Cincinnatti Bengals in Super Bowl 16 in Detroit by a score of 21-16 and the much maligned SF defense stopped 270lb fullback Pete Johnson three times from the one yard line! Now that was football.....and I think I just gave away that I am truly an old fart...sigh......

New York Newsday :

INDIANAPOLIS -- It was probably the weirdest game-winning touchdown in the history of the Super Bowl. But Ahmad Bradshaw will take it.

Bradshaw's 6-yard run with 57 seconds left gave the Giants the go-ahead points in a 21-17 win over the New England Patriots Sunday night in Super Bowl XLVI.

At the time, it was a touchdown that Bradshaw was trying to avoid. As he took the handoff from Eli Manning, Bradshaw suddenly heard the quarterback yell at him to get down before he reached the end zone. By not scoring at that point. the Giants could run down the clock, setting up a potential chip-shot field goal with about 10 seconds left.

Bradshaw didn't realize that Patriots coach Bill Belichick had told his defenders to clear a path for the running back, the thinking being that the Patriots needed to get the ball back with about a minute left for Tom Brady.

Bradshaw tried his darnedest to slam on the brakes before crossing the goal line. But the momentum carried him and he ended up sitting in the end zone.

"I just couldn't stop," Bradshaw said. "But it worked out."

Belichick acknowledged that the Patriots purposely allowed Bradshaw to score.

Look, I''ve played football. When you have a chance to score six points and take the lead late in the 4th quarter, you go for it, and don't worry about other matters like keeping the clock running.

well you havent played pro ball. he was suppose to stop at the 1 yard line. eli told bradshaw that in the huddle and couglin took responsibility for it postgame for not making it clear to bradsahw

Bradshaw looked like he was trying to stop himself at the goal line to keep the clock running until someone tackled him (across the line of course).

Interesting take paulinusa. Didn't think to look at it that way. I thought the Gints just did an excellent job on their blocking assignments. In my opinion, Bradshaw looked like he was trying to stop himself at the goal line to keep the clock running until someone tackled him (across the line of course). His momentum carried him into the endzone.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

paulinusa@ that can't be right, didn't you see him waving his arms and ranting after he left the field? He was purposely dissing the N.E. team. That kind of grandstanding reflects poorly on him.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Virtuoso: I didn't see it that way. I thought he had to make a split-second decision and didn't know what to do. For those who didn't see the play, N.E. let him score a touchdown to preserve seconds on the clock rather than allow the Giants to run down time and kick a field goal for the win.
