during the 14-day post-entry period

I thought the period was shortened to 10 days.

Oh, and 3,967 people in the US died from Covid on November 22nd.

The problem about Ishikawa is that he was coming back the US, so the likelihood of him carrying the virus is exponentially higher than anyone on the street who is vaccinated and not traveled abroad.

Japanese pro golfer Ryo Ishikawa, who is serving a one-month suspension for breaking COVID-19 self-isolation rules after arriving home from a trip to the United States, apologized for his behavior at a news conference on Wednesday.

Don't apologize Ryo. Criticize this government for even imposing that arbitrary "rule."

Question why, if in your case you are fully vaxxed, took a PCR test that was negative before returning to Japan, tested negative once again upon arriving in Japan, should you not be able to play golf outside? Who was at risk during your golf practices in probably the most highly ventilated setting?

As for hosting drinking parties at your hotel, presumably the people who willingly went to your room are adults; they made the decision to be in close proximity to you after taking into consideration their assumably fully vaxxed status, yours, and the fact you recently took two PCR tests that were negative.

Nothing to be ashamed of if you are fully vaccinated. I got fully vaccinated in Japan and don't feel golf or a drinking party are risky events to me or others. If so, what was the point of the vaccine?

The original purpose of getting vaccinated was to protect people from death or serious illness. Most people are vaccinated now and it turns out that huge numbers of people are still dying. In the US, more people have died this year with the vaccine than died the previous year mostly without one. I think it’s a good idea to get vaccinated and not take a chance but the results promised by the experts has not come to pass. I don’t think they have any idea what works at the moment.

What a sad man.

I don't condone his actions but at the end of the day he committed no crime. I'm just saying as long as they are simple requests people will keep doing it.

I know 2 people who ignored the calls from the MoH without any consequences, one of them even appeared on the shaming list to which he laughed at, printed and framed the thing to brag about it.

What a sad man.

Poor guy, if I were him I wouldn't have apologised, he did not commit a crime, he's basically just doing it because he is famous. Lots of regular Japanese ignore the regulations, I know 2 people who ignored the calls from the MoH without any consequences, one of them even appeared on the shaming list to which he laughed at, printed and framed the thing to brag about it.

He had to do penance and apologize once before early in his career. He got a California drivers license then an international license and was driving in Japan on it. It was a technicality because he had to be out of the country for more than three months to use the international license and he had been gone for less than three months.

Boy how time flies. Now even Ishikawa is reaching oyaji status.

How many endorsements did he lose? THAT is the real reason his agents had him apologize.

Is a 14 day quarantine really necessary for someone who is fully vaccinated and tests negative?

They recently shortened the quarantine for fully vaccinated people to .... drum roll please .... 10 days + another negative test at the end of it. I'd rather wait out the extra 4 days than go get tested again..

"I have accepted the consequences of my cheating and every day I feel regret. I hope I'm given another chance to prove myself," he said.

….

Just have another beer and you’ll feel better.

I think the poor guy just wanted a chance in the limelight again for a bit.

Well his famous and rich, we all know usually laws don’t apply. Apology should fix it.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

there are no legal consequences for any japan national who does the same thing which is why many completely ignore the isolation rules.
