He's right. I's only fair to the girls to restrict competitive sports to biological gender.

Transgenders who wish to compete can have thier own category.

I'm not a republican, and have strong support for LGBT communities wherever I go (I'm not one myself, if it matters). Still, I think he is right, for the reasons people before me mentioned. The very basic mechanics of a female body are fundamentally different than those from males', where is matters most, the pelvis. In sports requiring body movement (running, etc) males have significant advantages, and in sports requiring body stability (shooting, archery) females are better. Anatomy 101...

The whole thing is a consequence of the terribly loose standards that sports organizations have for scientific basis of their decisions, they were used to pay for badly made reports to justify anything they wanted to do.

When transgender athletes began to become more common there was obviously a very strong interest to allow their participation while protecting fairness to other athletes, but instead of reaching for specialized institutes and universities to properly design studies so valid evidence could be collected and a fair decision made they did the same as always, paid for a rushed report with the conclusions they wanted to hear and based all the rules on it. Unsurprisingly it took no time at all for the lame "studies" to be destroyed by professionals, which left the rules invalid and complicated the whole thing with a vacuum that left everything in chaos.

Now the topic became so heated and controversial that is not likely a properly based, valid distinction of categories to compete will be reached in the short term.

I find it weird that those who support feminism have not been so vocal about this. Either that or the media is trying not to broadcast their opinion.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

He’s right.

Women fought long and hard to carve their position in sports, and greats like Martina Navratilova who is a member of the LGBT community, have been savaged by unhinged people for commenting on this. I think elite sports players like Navratilova know what they are talking about here.

Hating transpeople is stupid and cruel. Arguing they should be allowed to compete in women’s sports is stupid, and in some cases, very dangerous to women.

Can’t wait for the first transgender sumo wrestler. Will definitely be an American

Why is it the (mostly, but not always) white male demographic are so terrified of trans people?

“This is just hate legislation, and to double down with an insult to our LGBTQ community is unnecessary.”

Aye.

Yup, a third category is the only way to go here. It's not hating but rather looking at the reality of the situation.

Real feminists are being quite vocal, but the media isn’t giving them a platform.

Consider that in motor sports or any sport that uses a vehicle (cycling, skiing, bobsled, etc) there are very strict rules on vehicle dimensions, engine displacement, wheel radius, even fuel capacity. This is done to ensure fair play. If a male boxer fought a female boxer of the same weight category, it would be like a Silvia vs a K-car.

I would lean towards allowing post-op transsexuals to compete in women’s sports, but the executive order signed by Biden mandates that individuals must be allowed to compete in the gender category they “identify” as. So a fully biologically male can now compete against women.

Why is it the (mostly, but not always) white male demographic are so terrified of trans people?

Sigh.

So do you think that transpeople should be allowed to compete in women’s sports or not? Think about combat sports in particular. Nicola Adams, a former professional boxer and part of the LGBT community says no. I’d say she knows a bit more than you or I on this issue.

Adams isn’t part of the white male demographic which you feel is particularly transphobic ( I don’t know if there is evidence for this ) along with Martina Navratilova, former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies etc.

Deal with the point in hand. I say create a separate category. What do you think?

Wait, isn't this progressive?

Feminist have supported this idea. Why not give them what they want? Only then they will realize how silly their agenda has been, which results in real damage being done.

Wait, isn't this progressive?

Feminist have supported this idea. Why not give them what they want?

Real feminists, not the gender-politik SJWs, have been protesting this move for decades, because it denies women gender exclusivity. Like I said earlier, this is not about post-op transsexuals. This is about biological males who “feel” like women.

I think we have to dig a lot deeper here. The activists pushing this are a very small but very vocal and aggressive minority. So, how do they get thier way, manage to sway politicians and get dissenters cancelled?......With the help of big tech and the media (owned and controlled by a handful of companies) who air the activist's views and do the cancelling. That's how. Everyone is afraid on these people.

So, despite the protests of the vast majority of women and girls, feminists and the rest of society, these few very powerful people will win out. That's discriminatory towards women and girls and undemocratic.

I agree with the Tennessee Governor 100%. It would be very unfair for a genetically born woman to have to line up alongside a transgender athlete. It is FACT that genetically born men have a much bigger structure, muscles, and are stronger and faster than genetically born women.

Anyone who disagrees is discriminating against genetically born women. Simple as that.

Expand the Olympics, have a "third gender" category for transgender athletes in the sports that are strength/physical based (some are not so no need for a new category eg Equestrian). Also, have a third FIFA World Cup for Transgender players.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Wouldn't you need a fourth?

One for transgirls and one for transboys.

Yeah, you'd need at least six.

Come on, dont be silly now.

I'm sure you agree that all athletes deserve a chance to compete. Having a 3rd category is a compromise that allows that, without making things impossible for genetically born women to compete.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

They have para Olympics, so why not Para LGBT athletics as well?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Or should LGBT top athletics compete in the Para Olympics entirely? Being biologically different than what the genetic make up born with is just the same as someone born with an arm or paralysis on some vestige of the human body?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Being biologically different than what the genetic make up born with is just the same as someone born with an arm...

Eh?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Just as Transgender identify themselves they should also create a sports system where they compete amongst themselves. Women compete against women in like sports, men do the same. If trannys want to compete they should compete against each other.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why is it the (mostly, but not always) white male demographic are so terrified of trans people?

I'm not afraid of trans people. But it's not right to allow trans-women to compete with women. There is an unfair advantage from having been a body of testosterone for a significant period of their development. This doesn't make for competitive sports, it makes for a joke.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I find it incredibly hard to believe that transgender persons would fake it just to succeed at sports, and furthermore, what incredibly small percentage of transgender persons are elite athletes as well.

How does this eliminate the clear advantage trans women have from growing up with male hormones, skeletal, and muscular structure? I don't think most transgender would fake it to succeed at sports either, and you're right, only a small percentage are elite athletes. But that small number has an extreme advantage of women who have been women with womens' hormones, skeletal, and muscular structure, their entire life.

In Connecticut, where transgenders have been allowed to compete against women since 2018, women’s track sports have been dominated by (biological male) trans athletes. Men with track times that wouldn’t even qualify them for the men’s team are taking the top slots in women’s track.
