I remember this kid playing his high school ball in Nagoya many moons ago! Man, I'm getting old! GO ICHIRO!

I hope he can FINALLY get a ring. The dude deserves at least one.

I would be happy to see Ichiro get a World Series ring, but I hate that he would have to do it with the damned Yankees.

When he goes into the Hall of Fame (he's a sure thing), should his statue be wearing the uniform of the Yankees, the Mariners, or the Blue Wave?

Or maybe even Aikodai Meiden High in Nagoya ! ? !

I always wanted this type of atmosphere before coming to America,” Ichiro said Monday through an interpreter before the Yankees played the Baltimore Orioles in the second game of the best-of-five American League Division Series.

Why is he still speaking through an interpreter? We've got foreign players on our team who've only been here a short time, speak heavily accented & "messy" English, but still always give their comments in English. I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm just really curious. I've always admired him as a player, but don't understand this block about speaking English.

There's no contention since it's obviously Mariners.
