Ichiro's latest milestone a big hit in Japan

As pointed out in this very well-written article at Deadspin http://bit.ly/1S8R6aC, Ichiro needed 1500 fewer plate appearances than Pete Rose to get to 4256), the most ever hits in a single season (262 in 2004), ten consecutive 200+ hit seasons (Pete Rose had ten spread over his full career). It goes on and on. Pete Rose is a sour grapes loudmouth. Ichiro is going to be remembered as the true hit king.

He didn't seem happy in the interview on NHK. In fact, he seemed more bitter that he had frequently been doubted in his career. I dunno what that was all about though.

Sheer Arrogance. It is no secret that Ichiro has in past offended NHK "special" commentators and that too during LIVE telecasts.

the next thing you know, they'll be counting his high-school hits.

Rose has no class. He's intimating that Ichiro is cheating.

Japan’s national broadcaster NHK reported that Suzuki “broke the record for most hits ever by a Major League ballplayer” while acknowledging the record is unofficial because it spans two professional leagues.

And this, if there is no other example, is why Pete Rose and some of the other 'doubters' of Ichiro's record have a legitimate beef. By stating it in this manner, it makes it seem that he has the Major League record. He doesn't.
