Karate will also make its debut in 2020 while baseball and softball return to the program after a 12-year absence.

The ONLY reason softball and baseball returned was to give the host country a chance to win gold again!

Softball is not a "major" sport in many other countries, but popular here, and the Japanese women's team is one of the best in the world. This was a no-brainer for the organizers here, even though there are only a handful of teams in the world that can compete at their level!

(I am not a fan, but cricket has more appeal to more people than baseball!)

Baseball is the national pastime, and you can bet the pro-league here will allow their players to participate, just dont expect the MLB to take time off during their season to allow their players to participate!

Japan will be the favorite to win gold here too!
