Best prepared..... until some kind of obstacle comes up. And maybe we should check the quality of work too... wouldn't be surprised if building regulations or something were "overlooked" in order to make a deadline such as :

"I do not remember any host city which was so far in its preparations two years before the Olympic Games than Tokyo."

What have Tokyo done/planning to do to alleviate packed trains during Olympics?

Tokyo and Ishihara plus the LDP bought this on themselves, yes it's a global event, but that comes with massive spending and media coverage that's not controllable. For a two week plus another two week event the costs are going to be loaded on children not yet born. I would say good call, but that would entail selling my soul.

It is the best prepared and the most enthusiastic. However it doesn't win any awards for post Olympic preparation. They are putting everything into their Olympic cannon and have nothing left after it is fired.

Prepared and actually working are two different things, nothing has been done about public transport improvements. Are things just suppose to magically work?

The stadium was supposed to host the finals of next year's Rugby World Cup, are they on time? And I faintly remember that they wanted to build a tunnel or so from Tsukiji, now changed to only a huge parking lot...Not exactly best prepared!

Let's hope Tsukiji wholesalers will be returned to a beautifully well-built and designed home again after the 2020 Olympics, right back next to the retail Tsukiji market. Both halves need each other to make a whole. Toyosu is a failed design.

Prepared eh? The triathletes and marathon swimmers will certainly need to be prepared for what awaits them after a prolonged dip in the noxious muck around Odaiba.

They would be better prepared if they were smart and held the Olympics in October!

There has also been some wrangling over the cost of the Games -- split between the 2020 Organizing Committee, the Tokyo city government and the central government -- with disagreements over what counts as Olympics-linked expenditure.

You are not Japanese, so there is no way you could possibly understand. We have a uniquely unique.. er... tax system.. in Japan, unlike the tax systems in democratic countries. Don't sweat the small stuff!

IOC chief Thomas Bach said Wednesday that Tokyo was the best-prepared host Olympic city he could remember, with just more than 600 days to go until the 2020 Opening Ceremony.

What a lovely thing to say! I can only but imagine where the inspiration came from for such lovely words...

I call B.S. on that statement. impossible.

As for planning and execution of projects, it's on timely scheduled target. Shoddy construction? Not possible in Tokyo and it's building requirements.... Maybe people here should research their concerns before making comment.
