Worried about potential loss of revenue...

The Lords of the Rings are concerned that sports fans will spend their time and money elsewhere.

@wanderlust, Absolutely correct! The ability to pack many stadiums with Olympic soccer is a major revenue-enhancer for the host country.

I'm looking forward to FIFA and the IOC slugging this out! Two equally greedy, corrupt and well-funded organizations - this should be interesting...

If the IOC is against it, it has gained more support from me. The IOC knows that people would MUCH rather watch a WC than Olympic soccer, and the athletes would rather participate in the former as well.
