Is she full of it or what? I would agree with her if the money was coming out of HER pocket, but it's OUR money and we the people have a right to know how it is being used!

Short and sweet textbook example of bureaucratic irresponsibility and passing the buck. Translation: We will look the other way and the other government branches will do nothing too to stem the flow of graft and bribery.

Nice to see the Olympic Minister has no responsibilities concerning the Olympics.

Hahaha!

I'm going to try this with my Boss on an expense claim.....I'm sure I'll get fired.

It is the Governments role if it is told that it is not the Governments role.

...reports about large payments...not government's role to look...

Sez one of the three monkeys (and tell that one to the tax office).

Suga and company not taking responsibility?

Who knew?

it is not the central government's role to police itself

Ever wonder about those disinfectants that kill 99.9% of germs - what about that scary 0.1%?

Looks the same way for conviction rates, too. Beware the superbug.

This is a textbook example of the way Japan REALLY operates & why its so expensive on these isles, that is with corruption, the ldp have simply made it legal for them to bribe, do favours, allow bid rigging etc etc, its all part of Japanese CULTURE

Nothing to see here move along, ignore the truck in Nagatacho unloading SKIDS of boxes containing brown envelopes, needed for NORMAL business is all, move along now!

That should be more than enough to demand her resignation. One can not expect her to resign as she clearly has no clue about what responsibility means.

This is a free for all pass out of jail for corruption.

what i like to know is what exactly is her role than as Minister of Olympics ?? It is not actually organizing nor managing the games as for that we have the LOC, The JOC , the sportsfederations of Japan and of course the great Dentsu. International relations ? No, for that we have Mori, Koike, and a whole int dept at the LOC . Clearly it is not keeping a financial oversight or control either.

i am puzzled to what she and her ministry do to pass the time everyday.

Of course it is.

In response to a question from a lawmaker about Reuters' reporting on the subject, Hashimoto said it was the responsibility of the Japanese Olympic Committee and the Tokyo metropolitan government to explain the bid's activities.

Reuters, where are the Japanese networks ? Doing what they do best, self restraint as it might tarnish the good

image of the country both domestically and internationally. Just like the recent judgement by the U.N. organ on the treatment of Ghosn that was conveniently not reported by the T.Vs here.

The image of the country is more important than maintaining Journalistic virtues and digging into and revealing

the truth even if it is the bitter truth.

Z: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! [a croupier hands Z a pile of money]

Q: Your winnings, sir.

Z: Oh, thank you very much.

Hashimoto said it was the responsibility of the Japanese Olympic Committee and the Tokyo metropolitan government to explain the bid's activities.

So its the entities implicated in the corruption that are responsible for getting to the bottom of the corruption that they themselves committed then?

Everybody got that?

Beware the superbug.

It's well past "super-bug" and is now a Cat 6 Kaiju! Which has been around like since, forever here!
