Skateboarding is a wonderful sport. Towns should simply dedicate parks for enthusiasts.

At the national championships held in Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture, last month, then-12-year-old Liz Akama beat Tokyo Games gold medalist and 14-year-old Momiji Nishiya for the women's street title, while 13-year-old Hinano Kusaki won the women's park competition.

Just give it time, the sport had a bad name in Japan for too long to expect people to change their views immediately. Some organization, events, promotion of competitions overseas and gradually people will see it differently.
