Congratulations to Japan!!! What an amazing victory, and better yet, what a way to show the world what sore losers many Koreans are. It's funny seeing how many Koreans are blaming ridiculous conspiracy theories for their loss. And those pathetic Dodko island posters and flyers. Congrats Japan, a well deserved victory, let the bigots stew over this!

I agree with you. Feel better now?

Just woke up. what happened to the Venezuela-USA match-up? I thought they were going to play each other to determine who meets Korea and then see who gets the chance to play Japan in the final. Was hoping for a 6th Japan-Korea meeting.

does anyone enjoy watching grass grow or paint dry??

I hope both Korean fans and Japanese fans get over with the Championship game.

It is a done-deal and just accept the result as is. Both teams played so hard and very well with passions. Nobody can deny that. Both Korean team and Japanese team were superb.

Japanese team won the title because they played a little bit better and maybe a little bit luckier. Same thing with Japanese team's 1-0 defeat to Korean team. That was also very good game. That night Korean team played a little bit better and maybe a little bit luckier so that they won the game.

Yes, there were a few questionable calls by umpires. But, that's a part of game. You cannot put down the winner with that, and you can use that as an excuse of your defeat.

I am a Korean and yesterday's defeat was a heart breaking to me and all other Korean baseball fans. But, the fact is Japanese team won the game and got the Championship Trophy. Korean team had chances to take that game, but they couldn't make it happen.

Now the game is a part of a baseball history. All Korean fans just accept the result as is and congrats Japanese team for the Championship. And, Japanese fans don't put down your opponant. It is only putting yourself and your team down and disgrace your victory. Please put your hands together to the loser for the great game. That is a true winner.

Salute to both Korean and Japanese teams for the highest level of the baseball game.

I think that the final ball game of Japan vs Korea was the best and greatest match that I've ever seen. This time Japan won but next time nobody knows who wins the final game in WBC 2013. Japan became a very strong team because there is always a best rival team Korea there before Japan. I think I can say this at least that Japan would not become a strong team if there was not a strong Korea.

Sweet victory for Samurai Japan!! Korea may have put up a small flag on the pitchers mound but the in the end Samurai Japan put up the big flag on Doger stadium, well done! What a great baseball Game! I think this WBC will open the door for more Korean talent to get into the MLB. With Korean and Japanese Baseball as strong as they were, I don't think the Americans can call Baseball "Their Game".

Puckey2 How many days were yo sleeping for?? nylex4 I know what you mean, I never watch baseball as well, but this was a great entertaining game / series. spudman Ichiro is just one man on a team, the Mariners need more talent to win. Ichiro and Jo-Jima need alittle more help over there. MKinLA A salute to asian baseball.WBC2009 showed the world the Asian baseball power!

The only loser here is you. "Many Koreans blaming ridiculous conspiracy theories" where?

I don't know much about baseball, and in all honesty don't really care, but it smacks of poor organisation how two teams can meet each other 4 times in a single tournament!!!

baseball sucks.. but its probably the closest thing japan will get to a "world title" in the forseeable future

Very true. However, Japanese athletes in general have great athleticism, yet lack the natural skills to make it to the top of any sport.

japan won n deserve my congrats not those unsportsman korean team.

Congratulation Japan Team!! You really deserved to win in this FINAL...at least for awhile we forget that Japan is also now in recession...

My Congratulations to Korean Team TOO!!They have done their best too.

samsarks: Exactly what was unsportsman like about Team Korea? As a fan of baseball, that was a great game. Congratulations to team Japan. As an Ichiro fan I will come to his defense. As was stated earlier, he is only one man on the team, although I did see Manny Ramirez single handedly lift up the LA Dodgers. I'm a little curious as to why there aren't more Japanese and Korean players in the Major Leagues. I saw a lot of great talent out there the other night.

Obviously these two comments were designed to rain on the party. Aren’t others allowed to enjoy the WBC without the constant sniping? Ichiro already made it to the top of baseball (a sport?) by winning a league MVP and an All Star game MVP. He’s a easy in for the Hall of Fame. But I know what you were trying to say. You mean the size and strength sports where black guys have the most “natural skills” (you mean genetics right). Even though these probably don’t count, gymnastics, figure skating, marathon are sports that the Japanese must have the “natural skills” since they’ve won medals and such.

CONGRATULATIONS SAMURAI JAPAN!!!

You really deserve to be champions after all. What a strong game and a strong sense of sportsmanship as well!!! I'm really glad that you had won out of your hardwork and concentration on the game...

I commend the team because they really have sportsmanship and i think that's the greatest edge Japanese baseball has...it has no sense of grudge like the "flag incident" on the pitcher's mound

CONGRATULATIONS! i know that this was good timing to get off the economic issues for a bit and give the Japanese people a chance to be happy (REALLY HAPPY) and of course proud....

I found out about the results on my way to school this morning and it really made my day...What more to the Japanese people!!! I believe they are up to a hundred times happier...It's really a great thing how baseball can put a smile on people's face!!!!

I hope Japanese baseball continues to improve and be at the top always.. I hope it doesn't lose its good and light spirit..It is one of the many things Japan can be proud of!

You guys are the B-E-S-T!!! May you continue to inspire people through your games....

I'm really a fan that's why I'm so ecstatic about all these!!!...hahaha...In fact, there are a lot of fans here in the Philippines.

Again...its CONGRATULATIONS!...CONGRATULATIONS! and a lot more CONGRATULATIONS!!! the entire team has done so well..Everyone is at his best and really each one showed his best play!!!

SAMURAI JAPAN is definitely ...No. 1!!!

That was a great ending to a 4 hour game. A blown save and then a rally in the 10th. I am surprised to read that over 55,000 attended the game. I guessed that half that number would show up for the game. 2 equally matched teams. It is too bad that the 2nd base umpire missed those calls. Exciting game though. To me the best thing about the WBC was that a European team won games.

What a good article, for a change, and seemingly devoid of bias. I was happy to read that, regardless of the bitter rivalry, people on both sides of the peninsula were rooting for their teams, and while none said any words of congrats to the others, both said a job well done to their own (despite the Korean loss).

The only shame is seeing posters on here come on simply to jeer or mock... guess I better join in (reprimanding).

You know... through this entire tournament for some reason I was trying to remember who it was who always jumped on the Japanese side during the Olympics for zero reason whatsoever and even regarded to infantile name-calling of other teams, in particular the Koreans. Lo-and-behold, here you are. Not surprising I forgot you, but a little surprising you still have the nerve to come on and post the absolute rubbish you do.

You seem happier that the Koreans lost than you do the Japanese won; that in my mind makes you not only a bigot, but a fake fan of the Japanese -- no real fan would cheer on his or her team for the sake of watching others fail. They would cheer on their team to see them win. You seem more satisfied to gloat than to congratulate.

"Congrats Japan, a well deserved victory, let the bigots stew over this!"

I think 'congrats Japan' would have been well enough, and good spirited, but since you bring up bigots while looking in a mirror, enjoy!

samsarks: "japan won n deserve my congrats not those unsportsman korean team."

Soo... let me get this straight... the Japanese team has to win to 'deserve' your congrats? Hmmm...

Oyaban: Good post. Thanks for that information. Of course, some will not accept it. In fact, just today I had no less than three Japanese tell me in the same breath Japan is No. 1 in the world and that they were disappointed the US didn't send their best players (shakes head).

I think Japan did amazingly in the last game, and (not 'BUT'!) the Koreans did, too. BOTH deserve congrats. As with pretty much all sports, though, only one takes the prize. That's how it works. Good job Japan... good job Korea.

I hope there's a WBC in 3 or 4 years to cheer again. Who knows...since analogue TV will no longer exist, I might be able to watch a few non-Japan games! (just had to throw that in there! haha).

jackseoul: (to rjd_jr) "Go back 3 years and the comments that flew out of Ichiro's mouth made him a sore winner and a poor athlete. I can agree with you here that Japan had a well deserved victory, but the only one riding the biggot train is you."

my-my! We agree on something, possibly for the first time. My only point of order, so to speak, is that when Ichiro let fly the comments and racial epithets he did three years ago they were the sore losers. Japan was out of the tournament, and Ichiro literally threw the biggest hissy-fit/tantrum seen in the history of the WBC and Olympics combined, and then through the faulty point system for tie-breakers they were allowed one last shot.

nigelboy

has japan ever even win the baseball world cup that has been around for about 40 so years, that is played annually, more prestious and has more international teams? NOPE hahaha

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WBC is just an international pro exhibition games that is sponsored by MLB. That's it. nothing more.
