Sounds like he'll bring lots of energy to the job and demand an exceedingly high salary from the tax payer's purse.

Why don't they simply elect an ex Olympian (or high level sports person who has retired) into the top position?

only doing this now, they should have done it the day after they won the bid. 5yrs is not much time to get your top athletes to peak at there home Olympics
