Japanese pitcher Kikuchi to be posted in early December

Lets see.... pretty much other than Nomo, and that was decades ago, all of Japan's top "postings", have been a disappointment. Especially when you factor in the massive amount of money that was forked over to the posting team.

Since Kikuchi cannot file for international free agency until 2020, he needed Seibu's approval in order to use the posting system to move to the majors.

The only reason Seibu is "giving" their approval is they want the money!

Gotta agree with Saiko too, outside of Nomo, the Japanese pitchers who have been posted have not lived up to their expectations.

Arguably Uehara and Kuroda were the "best" for their durability and have probably been the best "value", even though they didnt get the mega-bucks posting money!

I don't think Nomo was posted, he found a loop hole, by retiring in the NBL, then joined the Dodgers.

Ichiro was posted and he will probably be the first Japanese player to be inshrined into the HOF in the States.

Matsuzaka in his first year helped the Red Sox with their first World Series in 89 years. Overall, he had a so-so career with the Sox, but what he did to help win the World Series was worth the posting fee in most Sox fans' eyes

OK, who wants to start a pool on when poor Yusei blows out his shoulder/elbow? Most Japanese pitchers are so mistreated by their high school coaches that they have lingering and undiagnosed injuries that tend to show up once they hit the big leagues. At least Otani can hit, no indication that Yusei is any good with a bat.

Look at Darvish. He was supposed to be a beast, but he has a 12 win 15 loss record over the past two seasons and managed to singlehandedly cost the Dodgers the World Series in 2017.
