riiiight because Eddie Jones is just sooo much more of an attacking coach than JK was. All the best to Japan rugby - but Jones will end up in the same acrimonious heap that JK did; behind the back whispers that it is all the gaijins fault. Jones has already come out and said he won't try to change the structure of Japanese rugby when that is where the problems stem from...the problems are systemic! JK was right about that but got nowhere against the old boy's network of incompetence.

Of course rugby must be attacking - but it starts up front with brutal efficient forwards - and requires competent ref'ing at all levels.

You honestly think Eddie doesn't know what the problems are or the importance of the pack ??

On record as Australia's worst ever rugby coach, but I hope he can help the japanese team to shake some of the demons.

Suntory winning with bought in talent, nothing changes :: at the end of the day everything under the sun has been done.

EJ will do better than JK. Which won't be very hard, he only has guide the team to actually win one RWC game.

I think we should appoint a Japanese coach - only a true Nihonjin can understand how to get the best out of our players.

I'm not convinced with that argument. Look at the Samurai Blue - they do pretty well with a foreign Manager. You have to choose the best person available, no matter where they are from. Many countries have foreign coaches in rugby. EJ will do pretty well I reckon, he knows the rugby culture here and will bring some good ideas to the table.

I`ve always liked Eddie, OZ, and Suntory, but him saying "Asian champions Japan had a lot to learn from Suntory, " is a joke. Does that mean load up your team with even more foreigners, better and younger, than JK??? Hey, maybe Fourie and Georgie can play for Japan if they are healthy enough in 3 years!))

well calm down - I struggle to remember a decent pack he was ever in charge of creating...? But yes , he clearly understands the systemic problems as he has mouthed off already that he won't be doing anything about it.

I thought the Japan Rugby powers-that-be complained a little while ago about the team having too many foreign born players.. now they hire a foreign coach?
