Football is coming home!

England improved this week. They were dire against Hungary but just poor against Germany - slow, predictable, tactically inept, sloppy and negative. They showed much more promise a few years ago making pacey, clinical attacks and using the wings more.
I thought Kane was offside, which would have made the penalty decision moot. As it was, I didn't see any contact, and if I was German, I'd be very annoyed. It was a surprise as the ref had been particularly good for most of the game, ignoring players when a slight touch took them down as if they had been hit by a truck.
Germany are not a patch of the West/Germany sides of old, but they have solid skills, better tactics, are moving the ball faster and more crisply than the last few years and have a good mix of talent. Germany fans should be more hopeful than they have been for a while. England fans should be worried.

I think there is a typo here. "seal a draw" should read "steal a draw". Germany were by far the better team. England ( and Southgate) seem to have run out of ideas. As a long suffering England fan who was in shorts last time England won the world cup - I can say with some confidence "it's not coming home" this world cup. If they play like the did in their last two matches then getting out the group stage would be considered a good tournament.

That's what I thought too, but I wondered if it was just my Scottish bias. Glad I'm not alone in my observations.

England were poor in the first half but picked up a little after the break. Soft penalty and the Germans should feel aggrieved at not winning. It's difficult to see many goals in that England team, which is a major worry.

Three minus votes and I never stated where home is! :)

In Harry Kane, the Three Lions are blessed with a sharp spearhead.
