Tsitsipas was lucky his ball didn’t hit anyone. Was a simple ‘code violation’ enough? Nick’s endless tirade was way OTT.

I think tennis needs a second-tier board of judges like Sumo or F1, with the ability to overrule the umpire, or announce ‘incident noted, decision on further action to be made after the match’ etc.

Kyrgios could be an outstanding tennis talent if he could get his act together, stop abusing umpires and control his hideous temper tantrums. There is no doubt he has the skills but not the dedication.

He slides on by and makes more than enough for a very comfortable life with his earnings. He would get more sponsors lining up if he sorted himself out and his tennis would reach another level. He could be a multi grand slam winner and world number 1, if he had the dedication and drive. He lacks both and the Tennis world is the poorer for it. He could have been one of the greats but will get only a footnote in the games history as one who coulda been.

Kyrgios could start a fight in an empty room. That said, Tsitsipas behaved badly too. That match was not a good look for tennis.

Kyrgios said Tsitsipas should be kicked out of Wimbledon, recalling the incident at the U.S. Open in 2020 when Novak Djokovic was defaulted from the tournament after hitting a line judge with a ball.

dont agree with Kyrgios often but on this i do, if a players bad temper hurts somebody on the court or in the crowds, it should be an automatic disqualification, although I think most of Kyrgios outburst was to rattle Tsitsipas and it seemed to have worked

The Australian prevailed 6-7 (2/7), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (9/7) in a third-round match during which both players were warned by the umpire.

Coming back after being down after the first set is not uncommon. Surprised Tsitsipas didn't win another set after that.
