I hope so! As much as it would be fun to see them playing in the Champo for a year or two, we'd miss the 6 points.

That should be enough to relegate Everton. Everton fans will miss a game of spot the Scouser on the Kop ;)

Burnley looking very good at the moment. They’ll pick up a few more wins. Hoping Leeds get pulled right back into it but I think they’ll get the points needed.

Glad for the Reds, sad for the Blues, but miracles sometimes happen so let's hope the city will be spared a relegation of one its famed sporting pillars.

Gritty performance from Everton. It's not a great position they're in but games against leaky Leicester and a terrible Watford side should bring some points.

A premier league without Everton is like a salad without dressing. How could they end up in this dire situation?

Gonna be very exciting end to the season for everyone, even neutrals like myself, the title race is double plus exciting.

Liverpool again doing what they do best, winning. The Citizens have all the pressure on them now, and will be nervously looking over their shoulders.

Go get em, Reds!

Too bad to see Everton suffer as a result of the lack of a penalty call on Liverpool.

Ref/VAR made the penalty call.

No.

There was no whistle and no VAR stepped in when Gordon was shoved to the ground on a break.

That is a lack of a penalty call.

Also, Liverpool should have been only playing 10, but again, the refs made a bad call.

Preventing the red hot Reds from finding the net for over an hour was a modest achievement. As player, for club and country, Everton manager Frank Lampard has been a legend. Liverpool are fighting for the title. They need to win all the matches and hope for some favorable result from somewhere. All the best.

@zichi

Just had another look at that challenge on Gordon - that’s a pen. Souness and Carragher, ex-Liverpool pros who know a bit about tackling, both agreed it’s a clear foul.

Liverpool were obviously the better side and Everton were understandably negative, but that could’ve changed the game.

Thank you for your support.

And Liverpool should have only been playing 10 because of that.

I was bedazzled as to why zichi didn't recognise that when I pointed it out.

It was a penalty but not a red card.

That is right, and if you read my comments, you would understand that I am saying it should have been a red card (as other commentators have also mentioned).

If you had seen the game, you would have thought so too.

@painkiller

I was making a comment to a fellow Scouser ( he’s red, I’m blue ) and football supporter who knows the game and we’ve talked footy for years.

Anyone who knows the game knows that tackle wouldn’t have been a red even if a pen was given. So no, Liverpool wouldn’t have been reduced to 10.

You clearly don’t know the game at all. You are just spamming. I don’t comment on ice-hockey or baseball threads because I know nothing about these sports. Maybe a useful way of looking at things.

@zichi

I see what you mean and Gordon does go over too easily, but for me a foul is a foul. That could have changed the direction of the game.

Anyway, you’re right that Gordon is getting himself a bad reputation. He’s a good player but refs will be looking out for this.

Everton in deep trouble here. Hoping Leeds get pulled into it because Burnley have been excellent in their last 3 games. They’ve got players built for these scraps. We haven’t.

Who is criticsing you?

Liverpool should have been playing 10; easy enough to make that informed opinion.

Why you missed it, don't know that.

It's in the news; I am sure you can both find a quote to support it.

Maybe I'll do it for you . . .

I think Gordon could be a very good player. I'm hoping you are not sent down. bros in NY is so gutted we can't even talk about it.

My mum ( used to go to Goodison with her sister ) is in her 80s now and said she’d never thought she’d live to see the day Everton go down. It’s looking likely.

At least I can say I was at Goodison the last time Everton won the title.

As others have said, if it was a penalty it wouldn't have been a red card. Please explain which laws of the game make you think it should have been,

Having watched the game after getting home, I'm wondering why Everton didn't try to play football instead of deciding that that was the one thing they didn't want to do. When they did, they were good at it.

Pickford was a pr1ck all game, I'm glad he lost. Same for Richarlison, I'd be happy for those two to be relegated along with Lampard.

Wow; I missed this one too.

*DERMOT SAYS: **"When you see the whole package, he is very lucky to still be on the pitch. Stuart and VAR are very unlucky because of the protocol. There's so much going on and Stuart sees the first one [on Allan] and he [Mane] is yellow carded, *

As others have said:

His lack of self-control saw him lash out at the Liverpool captain, sending him to the ground but VAR decided a yellow card was sufficient despite what was an obvious red.

Does Dave Kidd know the game?

Everton had enjoyed 13 per cent of ball possession and yet they should have had a penalty and ****Liverpool should have been reduced to ten men.
