I can do without the sneers from those from the likes of Ibrox Arena or Celtic Stadium

Oddly, I've never watched a game at either of those Enclosures. The first football game I went see was at the Hampden Amphitheatre in about 1961. Queens Park were playing East Fife. Capacity at the time, 140,000. Attendance was about 200. You can imagine the atmosphere.

Keep hoping!

Also intriguing to see that Celtic Stadium in Glasgow has a larger capacity than Anfield Stadium.

Celtic Park, not Celtic Stadium. Anfield, not Anfield Stadium. Anfield isn't even in the top 10 stadiums by capacity in the UK, although that includes non-soccerball stadia.

By atmosphere, it's pretty hard to beat on a chilly European night. It holds almost mythical status all over the world, just ask Messi.

and I wonder how they all traveled to England?

Modern galleons have much more accurate compasses and sturdier sails perhaps.

Silverware on multiple fronts? Herr Jürgen Norbert Klopp is doing a fantastic job at Liverpool. His players and their fans are showing awesome hunger for silverware. All the best.

Stadium is a general category term--some in Italy are called Arena for example.

Then why capitalize it? It's clear you are winging it.

Argentina must have some of the most fervent fans in the world though

So much so that away fans are banned from attending matches. Earlier this year fans threw live grenades onto the pitch; at their own team.

The Sea of Yellow at Anfield must have been an imposing image.

They had a fine day in the city, they were much appreciated and respected.

But let's be straight here, you're not here to talk football, you're here to be as annoying as possible.

Everton is building a brand new stadium on the docks.

They're getting to you too, zichi. Be careful with those singulars and plurals.

The whole basis of football grammar is to allow people such as Jimizo to say Liverpool is great (the city) and Everton are great (football team fantasy).

Liverpool will likely struggle against Newcastle's formation.

At the Newcastle Stadium?

There's only 3 certainties in life: death, taxes, and Liverpool winning.

Fabulous result, almost in that Final. Villareal would be thrilled just to have played at Anfield - good for them.

The power of Anfield on European nights tends to turn one goal quickly into two, and that’s what transpired again.

It is surprising that the capacity of this stadium is so small. There are three stadiums in the US with a larger capacity, allowing for more fans at the same game.

The Anfield walls are closing in.

Not sure what this means, but we are still 2nd favourites to win the league and the CL, since Citeh are still in these competitions.

It's all about putting the team in the mixer at the end of the season, and we are in the mixer.

@albeleo

I’ve been watching Everton trying their best on the court at Goodison Field for over 40 years.

I can do without the sneers from those from the likes of Ibrox Arena or Celtic Stadium at this depressing time.

Anyway, Nadine Dorries should knock this trolling off. Tories commenting on a thread about a football club from Liverpool is always unwelcome. Michael Howard was bad enough.

A sea of yellow-clad Villarreal fans — at 5,000 in number, they amounted to almost 10% of the population of the town in eastern Spain — swarmed its way from Liverpool city center to Anfield ahead of the game.

These are probably the most rabid fans in Europe.

Anfield Stadium is a relatively small venue; it is only the 7th largest football stadium in England.

What an incredible fan base; and I wonder how they all traveled to England?

Also intriguing to see that Celtic Stadium in Glasgow has a larger capacity than Anfield Stadium. So do 3 stadiums in Italy, and 4 stadiums in Argentina.

I wonder how much those places make off of food and drinks compared to ticket prices.

Argentina must have some of the most fervent fans in the world though, to be able to fill those huge stadiums to capacity.

And a rendition of The Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine,” which is the nickname of visitors, was well-received by the lively away contingent before kickoff.

Anytime a Beatles song is played, it's a good thing.

Very impressed with that large contingent of Villareal fans who made the trip.

Let's see how Liv'pool does at St. James Park.

Checking spelling now?

The topic of this post is last nights semi-final between Liverpool and Villarreal and has nothing to do with the size of the grounds.

Yet, you commented on it.

. . .create a sterile area around the Stadium . . .

Villareal had two big upsets coming into this match, and played a stellar first half, but Liverpool, who benefitted from a missed call by the VAR in their last match, played strong the entire game.

Fairly straightforward win for Liverpool. Not feeling overly optimistic about City's chances in Madrid so it's looking like a repeat of 2018 again.

Unai Emery has some record managing teams in European competitions. Liverpool have too much for them, but to get to the semis of the CL with Villarreal is superb.
