It makes him a successful amateur and Olympic boxer. Olympic boxing is not professional boxing. Some considered to be the greatest boxers in history never went to the Olympics. Also, an amateur career in a third world country does not hold much credibility when most of your opponents who are part time boxers from anywhere. Floyd Mayweather Jr. was robbed of a gold medal in the Olympics by an Eastern boxer that he destroyed thanks to an Eastern European judge. Where is that guy now?

Mayweather defeated either the most champions in history or at least the second most if Manny wins this next fight. He retired undefeated, made great fighters look average in the process (including most of the names mentioned in this post), and was/is the highest paid boxer ever. Probably the richest, too!

How many fights did Loma win as an amateur before his first loss?

How many losses has he had as a professional? (14-2-0).

His win ratio and record as a professional is not as good as amateur. It just tells how much better the level of competition he is facing compared to the taxi drivers, farmers, and etc in the amateurs. I doubt less than quarter of those professional fighters make it to the "Hall of Fame" or will ever become champions. And, he loss to two of them.

Again, who has he fought professionally that makes him one of the best ever?

Especially, when the 396 that he defeated in amateurs are not known for doing anything else.

No need to compare Lomo with Canelo just to diss him and write him off. He's a tough fighter who commands respect from his opponents and admiration from spectators. He still packs a punch and can be expected to give boxing fans value for their money for a few more years.

You seem to know little about boxing. That ranking is for current active fighters.

Current active fighters does not equal all time greats. Apples to Oranges.

How many of those fighters were current or former world champions with any name brand or will become "Hall of Famers" some day?
