Thursday night football for Utd again, thats gonna bother their weekend performances all season. An absolute shambles from them again.

Looking forward to seeing what the hell went on at the PSG game. Apparently a match official referred to a Basaksehir staff member as 'the black guy' in order to identify him to the referee.

Any Bundesliga team in the Champions League is a hard nut to crack. German teams play efficient, compact, and purposeful football with a fair amount of flair. Teams from Spain, Italy, France, Belgium and England need to work extra hard to overcome the German resistance. Congrats to RB Leipzig and all the best to Manchester United in the challenges ahead.

Referring to the coach as "the black guy", while perhaps clumsy, does not strike me as racist. Soccer already suffers from an image problem of being a little too dainty for these pearl-clutchers to just walk off in a huff. It should be a forfeited win for PSG, and any complaints should have been made to UEFA after the game to be dealt with.

Referee was not racist. The word he used "negru" is not racist in Romanian language, it means black, as in black lives matter. As he didn't know the name he referred about the person needing a warning as "the black one, the black guy". That is not racist!

Zichi, no, it was the fourth referee. He was speaking Romanian to the central referee, in his language the way he referred to the person was not racist. "Negru" is different from "ni**er".

Webo overreacted-he should understand that words in different languages are not the same as in English...

It wasn't the referee, it was one of the fourth official who called "the black one, the black guy". Had he been white he would not have said "the white one, the white guy!"

common sense tells us that the coach from Cameroon was the only black man in the group being referred to.

We're at a point now where we're so scared of being called racist, we don't even use our common sense and personal integrity to defend those against such scurrilous charges.

To officiate a Champions League or Europa League match, UEFA referees must be able to speak English. Referees will generally speak to players in English as it is the most commonly spoken language in Europe.

Zichi - you just accused the official of being racist. Why is it now suddenly a language issue?

Don't you see the problem with so casually accusing others of racism? Thats an incredibly serious accusation.

Both the teams marched off the field. Racism in football is no longer accepted or tolerated

Zichi - this was your statement. You accused the official of being a racist.

But you will be giving your support to the transgender players.

I'm so perplexed by this statement....Is this a not so subtle insult that I'm gay or transgender??

I didn't accuse anyone. I stated racism in football is no longer accepted or tolerated

and without any knowledge of the whole affair other than the headline, you casually accused the official of racism.

flustered, you lashed out with homophobia and anti-trans slurs.

Please stop deflecting and take responsibility for your words.

The official was suppose to speak with one of the acceptable languages and not Romanian.

But Zichi - what of your original and very serious accusation that the official was a racist? Does it still stand?

You're avoiding the question, zichi. Do you still believe the official is a racist?
