Even without the Covid induced postponement hosting the games was a horrible idea.

No matter what people think about holding the games in 2021, all that money poured into the Tokyo Olympics will speak louder than words, but then again Covid will have the last word.

It will go down as the most unpopular games with both spectators and athletes.

Tokyo Olympics must go ahead.

Govt. watching from close view, we are far from the reality.

Does anyone think the masters, I mean government, give a rats about what's the people think?

They are clearly intent on throwing good money after bad money.

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Since when does this government care?

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Yep, believe a democracy works a little bit differently than what’s on display here.

I think most people don't like the idea of the Olympics. Sure it can be good for certain businesses. However, for those that have to go about their usual everyday things, the Olympics makes that time period hectic to do most things. Also, after the pandemic, many will still have many reservations about traveling and having and influx of travelers coming in.

If you think people are against it now, wait till the big wigs start talking about how wonderful it is and how it symbolizes how we have triumphed over the adversity of the virus blah blah pass the sick bucket.

That's called an Olympic movement

Listen to the people. Common sense.

Still doubt it will happen. At least successfully. In Summer 2021 "most" people will still be waiting for the vaccine all over the world. If Tokyo/IOC had chosen to skip 2020 and designate 2024 it would probably have been the most successful and globally celebrated Olympics in history.

Nhk poll means nothing.

Besides, no one wanted the olympics besides politicians even before covid.

90 answers from 100 individuals total. Do the math.

The delay and health measures will add at least an extra $2.4 billion to the existing $13 billion budget for the Games.

Organizers are due to release an updated budget later this month, but their figures for the cost have been hotly disputed, with an audit report last year estimating the national government spent nearly 10 times its original budget between 2013-2018.

Organizers countered that the estimate included items not directly related to the Games.

Yes it is only 10 times the original budget if you include items not directly related to the games.

Like influence peddling to a company called "Black Tidings", entertainment expenses and finders fees and empty job titles pulling huge salaries for Dentsu, and then the kickbacks to the political decision makers and officials.

Can't have that audited as part of the budget can we?

The public will be compelled to pay for it though.

Olympics 2020 is never for Olympians or Paralympians or citizen anymore.

Obscene in all its forms

One of the many virtues of a one-party state is it doesn't matter what most people think.

This year has taught me, People enjoy being miserable

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

If Covid is not completely under control the tourist will not show up especially under the guidelines of being tested to enter the country, the athletes will not show up and lastly the people will lose interest. This Olympic will be a disaster and a big tax waste. The people of Japan will pay for this loss for years. Abe will walk away with no stress Suga will bear the burden.

Most people in Japan oppose the government, yet they keep electing the same party to power, do you still wonder why the government never care ?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Well, fortunately for the government this isn't really a democracy -- no one was for the Olympics in Tokyo to begin with, but that didn't stop them.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Japan cannot afford another scandal. We opposed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

$ Billions have been spent already. Nothing can stop these games, short of a shooting war with Japan in the center.

When CASH over-rules CARE, there is a problem.

Agreed, the games were being hijacked by right wing nationalist elememts.

Time to let it go

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I've always opposed the time of the event: Japan's hottest most humid season. I'm thinking mainly of the elderly who will die by the hundreds from heat stroke while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

"Let it go - Let it go" ... come on everybody sing along now!!

Will someone hand over the airsick bag.
