"snub"?? My guess is he knew he would only be in the team intermittently at Chelsea.....

Yet another Japanese shirt seller, this deal paid and sponsored by Japanese football association.

Exactly. Apart from Yoshida, none of the present batch of J 1 players are up to playing in the Premier. Yoshida pointed out that the English premier is a super fast league and while in baseball it might work having your J - E translator standing next to you, soccer is a different kettle of fish and the Premier is a completely different fish altogether.
“This problem of people who cannot speak English...... And if they cannot speak English, there are no opportunities. It’s a shame. Some Japanese players are lazy.”

No deal was paid or sponsored but I guess it's way too tempting to post a negative dump when you have it in mind. Of course, apart from Yoshida none is up to playing in the Premier ... since he's the only one actually in the league.

Do the math... Chelsea change sponsors from Samsung to Yokohama tyres..... Yokohama tyres is a Japanese company....Japanese company, as usual, wants the inclusion of a Japanese, for domestic consumption.
This could really backfire for Chelsea because Yokohama Tyres are seen as a Japanese company, rather than an international company, and a lot of Koreans and Chinese are not going to feel comfortable walking around with a shirt that has a Japanese Company's logo bang in the middle of it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ryo Miyaichi of Arsenal

It would be wise for Muto to go to Mainz. He would probably get loaned out at Chelsea or see very little playing time. He looks like a very good player, but still needs to develop, which he will be able to do at Mainz. If he fulfills his potential he may well end up in England.

How could the deal be paid for if he didn't even accept it?
Lol, lets just say it flat out: he would get zero playing time.

@Hotmail. Unless the story has been updated I can't see the connection with Japanese shirt sales. Perhaps Mainz shirt sales? I hope he does well.

Gary > Miyaichi is currently playing for Twente in the Netherlands.

Much better move for Muto as a player. He could get loaned out by Chelsea to a Belgian club for 4 years, or he could go to Mainz and work hard in Germany like a lot of other successful Japanese players have done, and are doing, and then move on and up on his own terms when the time is right.
