Sensational match - well played to Rafa and tough luck to the Nishikori kid. The Aussie fans were right behind him - and if he keeps up that fight he will make the top 10 under his mentor Chang. Maybe next year will be your year, Kei-san!

This chair umpire is a real stickler for the rules. She has gone round and round with Serena a couple of times in the last couple of years. As for the Rafa-Kei match, it was, as Burakumin said, sensational. Let's not make Kei-san wait 'til next season though. This one is just getting started, so maybe later on this season, huh? Vamos Rafa ! BTW, Roger Federer looked like his old self in his match against Jo-Willie didn't he?

Congrats to both Nadal and Nishikori -- sounds like it was a victory for both, with Nishikori definitely coming along.

@ Kurobune - it's always great to read your enthusiasm for tennis ! And yeah - Fed is looking good. I hope he wins this major, who knows if he will continue past this year?

I went to all Kei's matches at this year Aus Open bar the Nadal one and Kei definitely has strong crowd support - and not just from the Japanese fans. I was surprised and delighted at how far Kei's game has come - his serve, backhand and general court-craft has really come along since Michael Chang joined the coaching team. Although Nadal wasn't at his absolute best yesterday, I think the close scoreline is proof that Kei is closer than ever to his top-ten goal. Thanks for the entertainment this week, Kei and best wishes for what is looking like a promising 2014 season for you.

Nishikori-San should have won at least one set. He made mistake in critical points. He should check his weak points and moving on. I think he is improving in his game but needs to working more.
