Whoever wins the Open will have a giant asterisk next to their name, because the man who hits a ball with a racquet better than anyone else was deported for being a possible threat to "civic order."

What a joke this tournament now is.

In tomorrow's news the same person or persons like him will be here to report on the absence of a player from a tournament. Over the years there have been many times when someone has been unable to play yet I see no asterisks against those wins.

Still moaning about this? Seriously? It's past time to get over it.

The rest of us have long moved on and are intently watching the tennis. Whoever wins the mens and womens titles will be deserved Champions.

They missed the tournament through injury, not through domestic political considerations.

Do we really have to listed to never-ending comments from people who don't know/care a bit about tennis? Both tennis fans and players are fed up with this. Now is Djoko, last time was the color of Naomi's passport or whatever she said at a press conference, before that was whatever Nishikori said, etc. etc.

Back to comments on the tennis itself, I watched a bit live and mostly highlights. From what i watched: Kyrgios was back to entertaining the crowd, Taro Daniel scored a great victory (his first at a grand slam?), Murray is back, Isner and Cressy put quite a show. On the women side, I watched Raducanu's game, she was brilliant, despite a drop in focus in the second set. Today I will try to watch Bublik-Monfils, it should be quite a show

And won't be back for 3 years, get over it. It all could have been avoided by following simple rules that even a child can understand, get vaccinated! But no, and there is your result!

If they told him he needed to be vaccinated, he would have either gotten vaccinated or not applied for a medical exemption. Not had the application examined by two separate medical authorities in Australia. Not been granted the exemption. Not used the exemption to ally for a visa. Not been granted a visa by the federal government of Australia. Not flown all the way to Australia. Not been detained on arrival. And finally not had some sad little politician looking for publicity arbitrarily decide "he was a threat to public order" and deport him.

The brazenness off it is really something to behold. Surely they can't keep the event in Australia.

I thought others had used the same exemption. Shouldn’t have been a problem. There were other issues at play and it is not just vaccination or exemption that was the problem. Lie to authorities and expect them to come down hard.

Back on topic please.

I am cheering for anyone but Nadal to win the men’s side.

It’s just not fair that these greats are vying to have the most slams of all time and that historic competition is disrupted by the nonsense about views and decisions about vaccinations. Nadal doesn’t probably care about it as he is well satisfied with his achievements as it is, but I think many people besides them care.

it’s just not tennis.

Good going. Congrats to Rafa Nadal, fellow winners, and their gallant challengers.
