If Nadal has won the US Open and then Federer cannot retire because Federer is worrying about Nadel will break his 20 Grand Slam records.

Looking at the draw now, Nishikori looks to be in about the best section he could wish for.

He's got Kohlschreiber next due to the (almost expected) early Zverev exit, and then the winner of Cilic / Goffin in a potential QF. There's obvious US open history against Cilic, but Kei has decent records against both those guys, and I give him reasonable odds in that match (unless Cilic brings his best serving, in which case it's lights-out).

Meanwhile in the other bottom-half quarterfinal you've likely got Federer and Djokovic smashing each other to pieces in what could go to 5 sets, which is exactly what their semi-final opponent would be wishing for.

And then a probable final against Nadal or del Potro.

Shaping up to be a cracking final, whoever turns up to play.

Let's go, Kei!
