The Gooners have gone all Spursy at exactly the wrong time.

Yes, extremely frustrating as a long time arsenal fan.

Way to go Newcastle.

But the manner of the Newcastle performance was even more impressive as Eddie Howe's men sent a message they could be challenging for a top-four finish themselves next season

Maybe a bit early. If Conte stays at Spurs with money to spend, he’ll improve them. I think Arsenal will continue to improve provided they can keep hold of their top young players.

Rumours that Newcastle want Calvert-Lewin. They need better than that for top 4. I’m sure he’d look good in a photoshoot wearing the black and white and green and white though.

That is the rumor, but we'll see where the money comes from.

Ed Howe's Magpies keep soaring high. Surprisingly Gunners were not vigilant. Home and away, Bruno Guimaraes and his Newcastle mates are doing wonders.

Newcastle are third in the form table since Jan 1, above even Tottenham in points per game. That's 18 games for them, one short of half a season.

This has actually been Arsenal best go at a Top 4 place for a while, not some new low for them to mourn. Two years ago they were eighth with a lowly 58 points. They've beaten Chelsea, W Ham, and Man U recently and were flying before the North London Derby. Spurs and now Newcastle have totally done them though.

This is what happens when you reward your (failing) manager with a bumper new contract BEFORE the season is complete. Arteta is just a yes man for Kroenke and has disguised "eradicating problematic players" which in reality was just reducing the wage bill. Aubameyang went to visit his sick Mother and was accused of discipline issues. Arteta said there was an issue with William Saliba who then went on to become France young player of the year. Arteta fell out with Guendouzi who then also went on to thrive in France.

And this was a season with no European campaign whatsoever, Man Utd a car crash, and Leicester completely disappointing. And Arsenal still only finish 5th. And we were knocked out of our first FA Cup tie by a Championship side. Remember that?

Next season Newcastle will finish above Arteta, I mean Arsenal, and Man Utd may get their act together.

Arteta is not new in this job - he has been there for two and a half years and he is a failure.
