Well done, GOAT!

Every day I click on the baseball news to find Ohtani has taken things to an even higher level! 459 feet? UNBELIEVABLE!

Nice to see he's snapped the slump he was in. 459 ft. is a personal new level. Not even close to new level in MLB.

Congratulations again to Ohtani Shohei, the weather is warming up so ball should be able to travel farther. Maybe soon he can be the league leader in home runs, but as long as he continues to be used as a pitcher he probably will lag behind Alonso, Judge and some others in the race for home run leadership. Still, Ohtani continues to show he's a one-off, one of the best to ever play baseball anywhere.

It was 478 feet.

Why did they replace Ohtani in the last inning?! He had a chance to be one of the few players to hit 3 homers in the same game.

It went farther than KIM's Spy satellite!

The record is 4 in a game rather than 3 so while it would be cool to hit 3 home runs it doesn't quite rise to the level of "gotta give this guy another chance to hit that record" situation.

@rainyday--when I looked that record up once, I was surprised to see it was set by Fernando Tatis Sr. The name is familiar since his son is on the Padres, now struggling to return to form after a half year banned substance suspension.

The record is actually 5 in a game, apparently achieved 4 times.

In MLB? I don't think so.

He’s lost the right kuwagata there!

Google "5 homers in a game" and you will see that it is so.

Never happened in MLB kiddo.

Those are all in the minor leagues. The MLB record is four in a game, first set in the 19th century and tied by many players over the years (including Lou Gehrig and Willie Mays) but never broken.

The NPB record is also four, most recently tied by Atsuya Furuta in 2003.

Actually Tatis Sr never hit 4 home runs in a game, but he set an arguably even more impressive record: he is the only player in MLB history to hit two grand slams in the same inning.

I hold up my hand, indeed not in the MLB. Myself, I played 2yrs Little League with a .308 average and a grand total of 0 home runs.

I suspect with the way the game is played today (in MLB) 4 HR games will become more frequent and we may even see a 5 HR game.

Yeah, its bound to happen at some point. Its not one of those unbreakable records for sure.
