I'm amazed of the persistency of the government.

Looks to me that these Olimpics are really gonna happen.

It's notable that two-time defending Olympic champion gymnast Kohei Uchimura of Japan was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 and could miss the meet.

Hasn't it been followed up? Uchimura was re-tested and found false positive. While it was a relief for him, this mishap gives a serious implication.

Technically PCR test is far from perfect and results not consistent consistent (depending on handling labs, levels of Ct value, etc.) Like the case of Uchimura, an error of testing result for participant athletes who are forced into quarantine amid competitions, yet turn out to be negative, could lead to a lawsuit for compensation and international dispute. You can't cover it up, better now decide who would have to take responsibility in case of that.

Covid 19 is the worst it's been yet in many countries, and growing worse in others, and yet Tokyo things this is still going to happen. What are they going to start falling back on soon? The old, "it'll disappear when it warms up"? "There will be a vaccine"?
