No offense, but I don't think 'British' and 'cuisine' belong in the same sentence. I LOVE fish and chips, don't get me wrong, and even roast beef and Yorkshire pudding (I can do without the fried bread and blood sausage), but still.

I heard that chips were banned, because McDonalds had got a monopoly as part of its sponsorship.

Except for fish'n'chips, that bastion of British trad grub that not even MikkyDee can overcome. I hope the local food traders and vendors take the opportunity to serve a tiny, tiny portion of battered fish with every serving of egg'n'chips, sausage'n'chips, pie'n'chips, steak'n'chips, curry'n'chips, chips'n'chips, anyfin'n'chips.
Darn cheek coming over with their 'fries' and trying to tell the Brits what they can and cannot eat.

News to me that Brits had cuisine. First time I ate in London, I had the runs for three days. Was a relief to get back to my Army base in Heidelberg for real food at my favorate guest haus.

Get lost all of you... British food is fantastic.. Most British food is home cooking, hence I have NEVER seen a British restaurant.
Also, fish and chips IS NOT BRITISH. It was brought to the UK by the migrant Jews...
Unless you have sampled a range of British food, your opinions mean NOTHING :)
Bon appetite :)

His book, Jamie's Great Britain is full of excellent British food.

Thank God we have people standing up for British food! Yanks wouldn't know cuisine if it danced naked on the table in front of them, lol

My sister went to London for a week. Said everything had the same taste.

And what l wouldnt give for some real fish n chips right now. Or better yet a steak and guinness pie with mashed potato and peas. Ah delicious British food...... Beats the crap dished up here or even in the States.

British bread is the best in the world. Ditto British cheese. And chips.
And there's nowt wrong with a plate of beans on toast now and again, specially if it's wholemeal toast. Lots of protein and fibre in beans.

I thought that was Germany...

Literally every country in the world has a cultural representation in London, there aren't many cuisines you can't find here. Last week I dined in Ughyur, Kazakh and Sichuan restaurants - none of them tasted the same.
Given how easy it is to find good restaurants these days, if you're eating bad food then you only have yourself to blame.

What makes those British Cuisine?

Britain has always been a melting pot of cultures, ever since our ancestors found it in the Ice Age, so naturally our cuisine will be cosmopolitan.
And all this talk of it all tasting the same... well, you wouldn't go to an izakaya and expect gournet food would you? As anywhere else in the world, "you pays yer money and makes yer choice".
Love how those of us who support British cuisine are being thumbed down... probably from Americans lol

Oh, and on topic, McDonald's.... they tried to ban chips from being sold near Olympic venues by anyone other than McDonald's. Biggest problem with that (apart from it being a bloody joke) is that McDonald's don't even sell chips! They sell fried twigs that they laughingly call 'fries'. And on a related note, why is a fast food chain even sponsoring a sports event? Fatty burgers and 'fries' aren't exactly healthy.

The two most popular food in the UK - Indian and Chinese!!!!
I have never, ever recalled seeing a British restaurant in Japan (no, I don't count pubs). It's because the UK has such a diverse population that the food is too great and varied. Beats Japan hands down (if you exclude Japanese food).
