It appears all previous posters, when commenting on Ms. Osaka’s “sports performance”, including @11:38am, could easily comprehend the ‘spirit & intent’ of the author(s)’s ‘accurate & factual’ “Sports” reporting. So therefore, everyone used her appropriate name and/or her ‘respectfully intended’ pronouns of “She” and “Her” for Ms. Osaka. So, the additional clarification @11:44am of:

seems redundant and frankly, unnecessary. There’s no question of gender here. In addition, the divisions and scores are easily understood as the article concludes with a separate division of “men’s” stats:

The selective focus reminds me of Naomi's first ever victory at the US Open, when all the spotlights were on loser Serena's tantrums and excuses, so much so that the then-timid-newbie-to-fame Naomi actually felt the need to apologize to her erstwhile heroine for...beating her at a US Open!

Anyway, plenty of opportunities of Naomi to come...congrats to the (photo not available), too.

Nothing was wrong with the headline. I learned who was competing, who won, and because it took 3 sets it was a competitive match.

Can't win them all, and congrats all the same to Osaka, and a big one to Muchova. It is good to have strong competition -- for everyone.
