It's been a strong showing by the Chinese athletes. Add in the medals earned by China Hong Kong and the haul is even more impressive. I have not seen if China Taipei has won anything.

Congratulations to the Chinese divers. They work CRAZY hard and almost always, they should win.
There are times when the Chinese don't go in vertical, which means they shouldn't get over a 6, but because they've learned how to go into the water with very little splash, the judges seem to ignore the bad dive. Sort like how NBA basketball stars can foul non-stars and get away with it because the refs all know they mostly play fair. The aura of their consistently good dives makes some judges miss that they are at 60deg and not 90deg.
Also, a few of the Chinese divers can't seem to point their toes, but that seems to be much to common for all divers who do too much flip training on the ground and land on their feet. We call it "wearing boots", because it is so obvious.
I'm being pretty picky, I get that. The Chinese divers male and female ARE and have been the best in the world overall since the mid-1990s. OTOH, their internal Chinese Competitions show that not all levels of divers in China are anywhere near the same class as their international team members. I've watched so truly horrendous divers from all over the world, including Chinese. There are very few divers that are world-class AND can handle the stress of competition.
Trying to add ROC to the mainland total is like the US trying to add Mexico medals to their totals. They are separate countries. Hong Kong / China is more like Puerto Rico / USA. If Hong Kong wanted to be counted as part of the mainland, they'd have already merged teams. Same for Macao. Clearly they don't. You know, Hong Kong and Macau still have their own passports, but Puerto Rico uses the normal USA passport, just like all US territories (Guam, etc.)
The Women's 10M Sync was earlier today and the joy on the North Korean divers faces when they won silver was fantastic. Congratulations to them! That medal will completely change their lives, the lives of their families and coaches forever in a good way. If they didn't make a great showing, I fear for what would have happened to them. They were surprised and showed amazing gratitude. Hugs all around for all the competitors.

The terms of the return of Macao and Hong Kong to China is 50 years as Special Administrative Regions of the People's Republic of China.
China
Chinese Taipei
Both Chinese but it likely would not matter as the Chinese Taipei team is not strong.
