It warned that "intense heat at the Paris Olympics in July-August 2024 could lead to competitors collapsing and in worst case scenarios dying during the Games."

So cancel it. The world will manage without this circus.

The opening ceremony of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics was held on October 10. People back then were more sensible. I’m afraid the Paris Olympics might turn out to be great endurance games of the century.

Should be no surprise. This is exactly what they wanted and planned meticulously for. Enjoy.

Maybe time to move summer olympics to winter time! (or use air con)

It might be easier, healthier, to move the games to either the spring or the Autumn.

If it were about the athletes, the Olympics would be held In October. But, pardon the pun, they run a distant second to IOC greed so mid-summer it is to catch the TV ratings and the sponsorship money that comes with it.

They are called summer Olympics so why move them to any other season. If you cannot deal with the heat don't go or don't compete its just as simple as that.

The IOC and NBC should stop forcing host cities to have these Games in July and August. This problem is going to persist if they don't stop this. Think of the athletes and the fans.

I was in Lyon for the Masters Games in 2015 the track was so hot I thought my shoes going to melt.

Summer now is not what it was when the Olympics began, my friend. In the modern era you get summer temperatures even in February sometimes. There's nothing wrong with thinking of safety while still enjoying the Games. You don't need to cheer on people's deaths.

Any country that holds the Olympics generates even more national debt while parasite corporations profit greatly. Olympics should be cancelled for now and ever.

Hopefully they don’t cancel the games like they did with the 2020 Olympics. This will be the first real Olympics in 8 years. We will be able to watch the athletes primed for it, which only happens every 4 years in leap years. .

But can they handle the heat?

Corrupted Olympics for "baron von ripper-off" prioritizing business than sport as ever.

Yes, it is possible to move the Games. It seems like the main reason to not do it is US TV programming, which wants the Olympics in summer and not at the same time as other sports like the NFL or baseball playoffs. US advertisers appear to be a greater "stakeholder" than the safety of the atheletes themselves.

Unfortunately no "could" in this case, projections for this year have been demonstrated too mild, too bad but this will continue as long as the authorities in charge do not think about preventing tragedies but only about how to react once they happen.

You don't say. Why are the Games being held this early anyway?

And I wouldn't want to swim in the Seine. That would be in-Seine.
