The IOC operates with the brown envelope in the forefront of consideration.

Throw them out, just before competition. Rules are rules. Of course, the IOC doesn't really have rules, it seems.

Bonkers isn't it? And that's before we even considered the Chinese team's excuse about a cardiac drug falling into the food in the kitchen excuse and magically being ingested by their athletes.

As for Russia, and the pathetic, yes I do say pathetic "NEUTRAL FLAG" excuse, it is just a way to appear neutral, but in truth, the Russian Athletes are competing for RUSSIA, for the Russian people, and they will be cheering the Russian team, and Putin will give those medalists praise. Kinda reminds me of the Berlin Olympics with some other leader.

There is too much money, too many TV rights, and too much sponsorship. Time to go old-school Cold Wa styler. Boycott the Olympics, if the Russians are allowed to compete. If the USA, Canadians, Brits, French, Polish, Germans, Aussies, NZ, African nations, and Asian nations say they support UKRAINE, they could put all their combined pressure to bear over one country being excluded.

Are the Israeli athletes being asked if they support the genocide being carried out by their country?

I smell hypocrisy in sporting events when it comes to Israel.

It's all about the games. Yeah, right. No one cares about the games unless their country wins. If they lose it's all about the politics. It's been that way as long as I've been alive, and I am pretty old.

Russian athletes can't not support the war, or they will be imprisoned or fall out of windows / sent to a gulag. I sympathize with them, but the easiest way to support them is to exclude them completely until their country decides to join a recent century.

Asking Russian athletes to denounce Putin's invasion is silly, because they don't have the freedom to do so.

They should be checked for smoking, too. It seems that is something to be kicked out for.

What else is knew with the Russians? (rhetorical question)
