Can't wait for tmrw morning's game. The USA may not field their best team a J win on us soil would be quite an achievement in itself especially in front of a packed house.

Great tournament for the Dutch, despite the result. This was their second extra-innings thriller, to go along with their loss to Japan. Looking forward to Coco Balentien carrying all that momentum over to the Yakult season!

This tournament is a farce.....the US is not using its best players who are at spring training....it is also a terrible time for major leaguers as they are just coming out of the off-season and do not want to risk injury!

Tough loss for the Dutch, who've done so well, but good job to the Puerto Rican team! Should be a fun game tomorrow.

Puerto Rico vs. USA would be interesting because PR is a US territory populated by American citizens. America beats America to win the WBC?

Am still not used to putting two runners on base from the 11th inning on. But it does save on extra use of a pitcher's arm in long drawn out extra inning games. 'Twas a good game. Next Puerto Rico will face either Japan or the U.S. for the overall title. Japan has the edge in pitching, so it will be up to U.S.'s hitters to get to them. Should be a good game.

Strange base running by Netherlands. That guy celebrating at first who got picked off while dancing around...not good.
They may have won the game had he stayed on base.

In a nutshell, this is the best US team ever fielded for a WBC, and yet still not even close to what it could field (Trout, Bumgarner, Kershaw). This team is not even close to what the US is capable of fielding.
That being said probably the favorite to win. What is going against the US is the fact that other countries actually care...

Maybe it is a farce in the U.S but here in Japan it is taken seriously and hailed as a real worldcup , a baseball version of the popular soccer worldcup. TBS which probably has the broadcasting rights here in Japan has devoted extensive time reporting on the Japanese team and the next Japan opponent. Contrary to what you are saying TBS reported this morning the U.S. WBC is the strongest team the U.S. has ever fielded made of the best players included are nineteen All Star players. I think it is a flimsy excuse to say the major leaguers are coming out of the offseason, the Japanese players are coming out of the off season as well so are the other teams made up of major or minor leaguers. The U.S is more interested in the money whereas Japan is for the national pride of winning and priding themselves as the real world champions and best baseball nation on planet earth.
