She's more American than Donald Trump.

The whole team was chastised when players celebrated every goal in a 13-0 rout of Thailand to open the tournament. Alex Morgan's tea-sipping celebration after her goal against England was also knocked.

Triumphalism is not cool, no matter who you are. This team of arrogant trolls is far from being likable.

Everyone have political different views but you can't insult your country's pride for some others publicity/marketing benefits....if so then go away, no traitors are allow in America or other counties where you born. I don't want see her in White House. Remember radicals, liberals, socialists, communists and fundamentalist are not allow in America, it all acting as anti nationalists and engaging in terrorism.

Wah, wah, wah. We're at the World Cup. I don't think anyone truly believes we disrespect the game or our opponents," Rapinoe said. "What do you want us to do? We work hard, we like to play hard

Working hard and playing hard have nothing to do with why some are criticising the attitude of the US team.

As for not wanting to go to the White House, that’s fair enough. Free country.

Dear conservatives: you do not get to determine for the rest of us what it means to be patriotic or American. That is a personal thing.

I'm a big admirer of hers. Great skills. Tremendous competitor. Good quotes.

The fact that she gets under the skin of MAGA-types is just a bonus. ;)

Rapinoe has more integrity, more humanity and higher principles than Trump could ever dream of having. Not only that, but she's a highly respected by her fellow teammates and if Rapinoe doesn't go to the White House, the rest of the team probably won't either and that is what has Trump so pissed off. Rapinoe and, hopefully, her teammates won't be political pawns in Trump's little propaganda show ponies. She's great.

EXACTLY! And neither do you liberals get to determine who is American or who is patriotic whether you hate that person or not. I don’t like Rapinoe, but my dislike for her goes way back before Trump became President for a variety of reasons, she’s an outstanding player, bu other than that and her personality lacking in class. A most definite resounding pass.

The fact that she gets under the skin of MAGA-types is just a bonus.

I think the feeling is mutual. Lol

Anyone offended by Morgan's tea sipping celebration should lighten up & get a life.

Of course she's a proud America. Only servile creatures of President Babybrains, who advocate a US on its knees licking the boots of foreign powers while supporting fascist movements at home would think otherwise. But that type of person doesn't know the meaning of the word pride.

@bass

Football players with no class - bad.

President of the country with no class - no problem.

Rapinoe must have behaved pretty disgracefully to cross your line. What exactly did she do? Make up trash nicknames for her opponents? Spread tabloid conspiracy theories about someone’s keeper? Tell her followers to check out a non-existent sex tape featuring an opposing defender? Question the nationality of an opposing centre forward?

I’m looking forward to this.

Anyone offended by Morgan's tea sipping celebration should lighten up & get a life.

Yep. If that was meant as a dig, so what?

I find those kind of celebrations are more common in grudge matches or if the crowd is trying to wind a player up. I’m not sure if either or both is the case here, but who cares anyway.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Anyone offended by Morgan's tea sipping....

I'm not "offended." LOL. Indeed, I'm hoping they'll defeat Mexico, and she can mimic a Mexican eating a taco. That would hilarious.

There's only one game left in the World Cup. The USA vs. the Netherlands. Keep waiting.

Who cares what she said, anyway - it was literally locker room talk. I thought Trump cultists loved to excuse that.

I think it was just 'polite banter' tbh, bit of friendly rivalry between the us & eng 'u eng fans enjoy a nice cuppa' stuff. Made me smile and chuckle when i saw it tbh, thought it was 'cute', funny and also a bit 'lame/goofy' in a way, nothing malicious. If i were eng would've thought 'is that all you got u %$^'? Just harmless banter imo.

As you know euros, aussies and yes, brits & Irish, have a much stronger and often nastier banter/sledging culture than say north americans, saffas, asians etc.

Just let them play the sport they’ve trained so hard for.

As far as their on-field and off-field comments, those are their property and, if ever called upon, must take responsibility for them. They were not elected to “represent” the USA or anyone therein.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Im waiting with bated breath for her pronouncement on the Nike Betsy Ross flag shoes.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

"I think that I'm particularly, uniquely and very deeply American,"..........

Stated with barrow loads of humility. After the thirteen to zero humiliation of Thailand along with the toe curling embarrassing goal celebrations. One thing that ruthlessness lacks is class.

After the thirteen to zero humiliation of Thailand along with the toe curling embarrassing goal celebrations.

Sounds deeply American to me....

0 ( +4 / -4 )

From head to toe lucabrasi......Like Rapinoe moms apple pie, or cobbler something or other. God bless America modesty.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Why does she think shes “unique”?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Good for her!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

What exactly did she do?

Besides of her insulting the President which she can do under the First Amendment, but the woman lacks decorum and I wouldn’t be as offended if she were playing for a local team, I would just say, that’s the comments of an ignorant player, but she’s wearing the USA flag and representing the entire country on the World stage and once again as typical liberals do, they have to be selfish and make it about themselves. And all I can say about her is, I am happy this will be her last World Cup even if I’m looking forward to their victorious win.

You offered absolutely nothing proving her lack of decorum apart from insulting Trump.

I think you don’t like her because she doesn’t like Trump.

Prove us wrong with examples of her lack of decorum. You seem to have followed her career and so this shouldn’t be a problem.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

That’s more than enough. The point is, play the darn game and keep your opinions off the field, No one cares. Off the team, so as you like I don’t care. If she would do that, no one could say anything, but like every other big mouth liberal, whose stupid comments are completely irrelevant, they want to ruin the last refuge we have left. Politics should never enter the world of sports. Like I said, her retirement can’t come soon enough.

I think you don’t like her because she doesn’t like Trump.

No, I don’t like her because of what I just outlined.

Prove us wrong with examples of her lack of decorum.

I just did.

But it's okay for Donny to insult everyone and lack decorum. Odd double standard.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

@Chip Star

But it's okay for Donny to insult everyone...

No, it's not ok. The mainstream media has created an entire sub industry that pores over Trump's gaffs, with lengthy analysis and experts interviewed, etc. Just turn on CNN, read the Washington Post, etc.

But if someone says the mildest thing about the soccer team's triumphalistic arrogance, etc., - blatant as it is --then all the SJW's come out in force pretending to be under attack. Hypocritically thin-skinned much? .

Odd double standard.

It is, indeed!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

LOL. Rapinoe is baited by the sports media, and she then choses to attack Trump. Trump counter-punches, and the progressives, biased news media-types, Democrats, and Hillary-worshippers fall all over themselves trying to chastise Trump. Again.

You've completely missed the boat again. The issue is not a sports star acting like a petulant child, it's the president of the US doing so. There is no reality in which it is acceptable to have such a president.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I see a lot of people downvoting praise for Rapinoe. Well - you can downvote this!

I love this woman! She walks the walk, plays to win, and doesn’t sell out on her values as a patriot of truth and justice. She’s an athlete who is not going to turn a blind eye to the bigotry shown by Trump and his administration. And she’s bold enough to stand behind her beliefs! That’s a winner!!!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

@Chip Star,

smooth yourself. Straight from the Antifa playbook. You asked for examples, I gave you a glaring one, and then you do the usual " Yes, but Trump...!"

Its getting real old.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@Chip Star,

Whoa, the ad homenims are flying. Smooth.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

But it's okay for Donny to insult everyone and lack decorum. Odd double standard.

He didn’t say anything about this woman first, she was the one that opened up on him and then he responded. Again, I wouldn’t object if it were any other time, but during an event like the WC or Olympics or any Sports event, politics should be left out of it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

She is proud to hate America??? Doesn’t work that way.

Just so no to Rapinoe.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Crazy: Dear conservatives: you do not get to determine for the rest of us what it means to be patriotic or American. That is a personal thing.

Just calling it out for what it is. Lefties like Rapinoe and her hero Kaepernick hate everything that America stands for. They seem much more comfortable with communist dictatorships like Cuba. A large fraction of the Left, like Rapinoe, hate the idea that individual freedoms are more sacred than tribal membership and they hate the idea of personal responsibility preferring to group people by race in order to denigrate or praise. They have nothing good to say about the country despite all of the successes they have achieved as citizens of America. That’s a funny way to be patriotic. If I were Obama I would say - all that you achieved athletically - you didn’t build that. The people of America made your personal successes possible. Yet they constantly bad mouth America as some evil dystopia that exists only in their hate filled minds

Rapinoe purposely denigrates the flag and the national anthem - the very symbols of the nations Constitutional form of government. To what end? Have you ever heard of any athlete from any other nation to ever do such a thing? She and those like her are purposefully seeking to divide and polarize. Listening to them you would think that America was no different than Nazi Germany, Stalin’s USSR, or Castro’s Cuba. No effort to unify and to be positive about the great things there are about the country that has given them so much. It’s no wonder that the backlash to this ungrateful attitude from the Left has resulted in a guy like Trump becoming president. Keep it up and he will get re-elected.

That video was shot way back on Jan 25th in Los Angeles, USA. The video was a supplement to a magazine’s Women’s World Cup special issue that came out in May. She was asked a question by the interviewer if she's excited to go to the White House, so she answered. She didn't dwell on the topic; she moved on right away talking about soccer.

In the video interview, which was shot before the World Cup, Rapinoe told an Eight by Eight magazine reporter who asked if she is excited about going to the White House, “I’m not going to the f-cking White House… We’re not going to be invited.” The soccer star said she was more focused on playing well than on the opinion of her president. “We just expect to win every single game,” she said of the upcoming Women’s World Cup, quickly changing the subject.

If people didn't put so much attention to it, it would've just flown right by
