Give him enough rope, he’ll do the job himself.

Good! And in the meeting somebody should measure how long each person speaks according to gender.

Millions of years ago the old dinosaurs died out, but not this one. he keeps on going on, I am sorry but he need to be urged to stand down.

The old fool looks really remorseful in that photo, doesn't he?

"Got away with it again - now what time are we off to the hostess club? I've got 2M yen of taxpayer cash burning a hole in my pocket"

Nothing will be done, he will express regret for miscommunication, and he'll be back in the trough by teatime.

Mori is Mori, I'm not his volunteer. I'm a volunteer working to carry out the Tokyo Olympics," she added

Exactly. Volunteering for Tokyo Olympics and not for that dinosaur. All the volunteers who quit "because of what he said" were just looking for an excuse to quit.

Not to worry. LDP grand poohbah #2 Toshihiro Nikai says that Mori's comments are "not a problem".

Mori made an insincere non-apology; he will not do the right thing by resigning nor will the LDP mandarins do the right thing and demand his resignation. It is the LDP old boys club after all.

(It’s Tuesday) Convene a meeting ‘as early as Friday!’ Lol

As the LDP all powerful close ranks to defend Mori, they are just proving how out of touch they are. Mori, Nakai, Nakanishi. Hold their feet to the fire. They should all resign.

(It’s Tuesday) Convene a meeting ‘as early as Friday!’ Lol

Gotta line up their ducks, polish the speeches, shred a few memos and practice the bowing angle. That takes time.

Every picture tells a story, the smirk of the fellow.

There are no plans to discuss Mori's resignation at the meeting but he could face a barrage of criticism over his comments, Nikkan Sports said in a separate report.

Oh please, the meeting would be utterly pointless otherwise.

The following paragraphs, tell a different story, painting an entirely different picture, the Government are activity flapping around looking for a political escape route

"We are taking this very seriously," said Olympic Minister Seiko Hashimoto on Tuesday morning when asked about the resignation of the volunteers.

Daichi Oyama, 28, who withdrew from volunteering because of coronavirus concerns, said of Mori that "if every time he says something things get worse, he should quit.

"It wasn't just Japanese news, all the world heard what he said and there's opposition being raised. It's a very embarrassing thing for Japan," he said.

Daily Mainichi has called on Mori to resign.

"This is not an issue that can be closed with a retraction or an apology" the editorial read.

If I were Asada Mao, I would seize this opportunity to fire off a revenge tweet.

"That old fogey, he’s always making sexist gaffes at critical moments"

"We are taking this very seriously," said Olympic Minister Seiko Hashimoto

How serious remains to be seen.

"That was definitely a gaffe, but Mori is old...and I think that people of that age have a tendency to look down on women, it's a factor of their age," said Misako Yoshizawa, 70, who teaches English part-time in Saitama prefecture and whose plans to volunteer haven't changed despite the outcry.

"Mori is Mori, I'm not his volunteer. I'm a volunteer working to carry out the Tokyo Olympics," she added.

Yoshizawa is what we call an enabler. Maybe in the LDP old men might act like that, but there are many out there who can show a bit more respect. It's also women like her who are half to blame, by accepting this stupid nonsense and just brushing it off. Has she ever wondered why Japan is at the bottom of the pile when it comes to gender equality?

The realty, could be, that no politician wants to drink out of Mori sans poison chalice.

Who in any right state of mind would step forward and volunteer.

Straight to a padded cell.

oh golly, a meeting! You KNOW they’re serious now.... (shakes head in disgust)....

"Mori is Mori, I'm not his volunteer. I'm a volunteer working to carry out the Tokyo Olympics," she added.

good point. the protest might hurt the wrong people.

Glad he said that. I’m in too many meetings where participants ramble on with no point. In his world, it’s mostly females perhaps. In mine, it’s skewed towards females but plenty of males talk too much too.

Having said that, Pukey2, consider Yuko Obuchi.

With professional pollical/financial support, a personal manifesto to rectify Mori san gaffes. Young, keen and focused. However the backing is essential.

This cockroach has survived many gaffes, even as PM. He will survive this. No one sponsor has said they want him gone. That is all that matters - the money. All many have said is that his remarks are "not appropriate". He, like many of the old boys in government (both gov and opp) are outdated dinosaurs. This is a fact, but they will bow, say sorry, and carry on.

i,m not buying that.

...

the meeting — yeah that was a little too much be careful from now on whatever next! who wants pizza?!

You seriously think that it's inconceivable to quit if the head of your organization you are volunteering for does something that you don't agree with?

What I seriously think I'd that people need to stop being so sensitive already and grow a thicker skin.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

What's he doing in the pic? Chewin Tabacco and yukking it up with his homies?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

When asked to clarify what he meant, Nakanishi said it was customary in Japan to differentiate between men and women but that thinking is outdated, according to TV Asahi.

Of course men and women are different. Have people actually forgotten this basic fact of life?

How much more will it take to dump these games in the garbage where the bribe takers should be along with them.

There are no plans to discuss Mori's resignation at the meeting

Gee, if that's off the table even before the meeting, then I guess they'll all cut to the chase and? Nevermind they'll all "talk too much" and should be kept off the committee.

Make him squirm. If he is so critical, he can't be replaced now, but he can certainly be forced into full, gardening, retirement.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Make him squirm.

Why would a man his age feel the need to squirm over such a nothingburger gaff? Time to move on already.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

What with Mori's hand bands? Does he have a blood circulation problem?
