And if the Russians weren't banned, every Russian medal would have to have an asterisk next to it asking if they really earned it or were they doping. Every single Russian athlete can thank their own government for tarnishing their reputations for decades to come.

See ya. Don't need ya. Don't your steroid ridden culture cheating our Olympics. Go away now. Tah.

Oh no. What will we do. I'm pretty sure the IOC is prepared for you not to show up, comrade...
Strangerland
This is silly. Sure there have been dopers from most if not all countries.
You do realize there is a reason why they banned Russia and not other countries countries right? Hint: it starts with ‘state’ and ends with ‘sponsored doping program’.

Was that supposed to be a threat?

What makes you OWN your Olympics?
They are cheats through and through, up to the state level.
Strangerland
Ban Russians from anything sport related.
They are cheats through and through, up to the state level.
Useless. We don't need them, and the Olympics will be a better place without them. They would use up oxygen other people could be using. That would be a shame.
Strangerland
Um, yeah, cause they’re doped to their t&$s on steroids.
No, you give them a chance to win by removing the cheaters.
If we’re to let in the Russians, every one of their wins would need to have a steroid mark to it.
Strangerland
Um, because I’m a member of a country that participate in them without a state sponsored doping program.
Maybe you should look into what Russia did to get themselves banned, since it appears you don’t know.
If you’ve got Netflix, start with Icarus, which shows how the government were doping all their athletes. Then look into the measures they took at their own Sochi Olympics to cheat doping controls.

If it is true that they have all the answers to get the ban against the boxers overturned, then let them in if they are as clean as they say.
Quote from article: Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov talked up Russia's chances of overturning the WADA sanctions. “I think that there is every basis to appeal the decision, because our experts have presented their position, and they have the same database as WADA does,” Kolobkov said in comments reported by state news agency Tass. “There is an answer to every question and the whole process is ahead of us.”

They should consider themselves to be lucky enough to be allowed to compete at all.
Every time I see a Russian athlete with a gold medal, I wonder if he/she won it based on talent or steroids.

Brothers Williams, Norway asthma skiers and many many others "clean" farma winners welcome it.

Good. Enjoy your dope-filled Spartakiads, and may the one with the best drugs win.

Well, see ya! Your loss.

And here's where you lose the argument. Blood transfusions were not prohibited by the IOC before the 1984 olympics. The US cycling team didn't break any rules, not to mention that still was not state sponsored, it was done by the individual cyclists within their team.

Say what?’ When has any other country been found to be running a state-sponsored doping program?
This is a glass house in which any country other than Russia can throw stones.
lostrune2
The Russian boxers should start the blame on their state doping agency
It's their state agency that screwed them
mike1492
Join Cuba Olympic team? North Korea? China? Syria? Hmm.

Good Cheaters aren't welcome.

Strangers, nobody is disputing the level of Russian doping.
It exceeds any other nation and this move from WADA is welcome.
But, when it comes to the USA, people standing in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
The LA Olympics committee destroyed medical evidence requested by the IOC and one third of the LA Olympics US cycling team admitted blood transfusions. They won 9 medals.
Strangerland
Anyways boo-hoo to the boxers. Emigrate to a country that isn’t running a state sponsored doping program.
They profitably don’t want to get off the steroids though and have to compete on a level playing field.

The Americans have been just as guilty of doping over history in the Olympics and major global sports. Tyson Gay, Marion Jones, Lance Armstrong, Justin Gatland - these are not minor stars and they earned millions.
The Olympics would be better off without both Russia and the US and their cold war medal rush.
