I still think that (a) given he was found guilty, (b) he is such a patriot, and (c) his medal is still being withheld, he should not be exempt from military service like his teammates, who got it as a reward for winning their medals.

I think he should be given the sign, and a uniform, and left to hold it proudly in the air atop Takeshima for 4-5 years national service. If you think about it, it's a win-win!

I would have done the exact same! And for just two-games, I'd do it again

So long as there's no doing it then whining about it.

It's not Takeshima, it's Dokdo -- read the sign!

To clarify, I would have done the same as a Japanese athlete.

This guy is a national hero in Korea. So, in his heart he did something for his country. The honor he brought to his country is probably better than the medal. Anyway, his countrymen know that he won it and was unjustly punished at the request of Japan.
