Oh dear! Japan put out a strong team.

Time for a non Japanese manager before its too late.

Don't worry...4 teams get to qualify.....

This shows that Soccer in Asia is getting stronger. Hopefully they will be awarded with more teams in the World Cup competition.

Not quite correct. Two teams from each of the two groups go straight through. The two third placed teams will play off with the winner taking an inter-confederation play-off slot. This might be Japan's only hope to make it to Qatar next year.

The Japan V Australia game on Tuesday night in Saitama should be a cracker. Australia will be gunning for their 12th win on the trot and can all but seal a spot in Qatar there.

Japanese players should start to shoot the ball once they have the chance instead of passing n to get clear of blame of not scoring then only the will move forward otherwise its on the reverse gear for Japanese soccer

The Japanese men's soccer team has always paled beside the women's team. Though the ongoing mismanagement by Takakura has almost destroyed the team, still they remain more successful that the men. However, the men continue to be funded at levels well above the women's team.

The continual harping to hire a 'foreign' coach is amusing. Unless you can steal away the coach of Barcelona.

even of japan wins they still won’t have enough points to get through

I don’t think so. I hoped to see stronger sides from Asia and Africa to break the European-South American stranglehold on World Cups. The performances of counties from these confederations in World Cups has arguably got worse in recent tournaments.

I don’t think more places are justified at the moment.

Whoever gets through is only going to "make up the numbers".

Minamino should ask for a loan move this winter... for him to be impactful to the national team, he needs to play more at club level.... perhaps a move to mid table German club would suit him (EPL is too face pace for him)...

There should be more places for "minor" European countries, most of whom would easily beat all the Asian teams.

The Japanese U23 olympics team and U21 ‘s are better than the full team if you compare them. Better movement on and off the ball and work rate as a team better
