"The Scottish Rugby Union has agreed to pay a donation of £70,000 to World Rugby and the matter is now closed."

It would be a nice gesture for World Rugby to then pass it along to recovery efforts or some such.

It would be a nice gesture for World Rugby to then pass it along to recovery efforts or some such.

They had already made announcement that the total amount will be donated to disaster relief.

Triring,

So they had. Thank you.

Turns out the Scotland Rugby Union didn't want to make the donation directly as "it could be interpreted as accepting it had been guilty of insensitivity towards the victims of Hagibis and was now trying to make amends."

Scandal... Scotland shouldn’t pay a single penny. Cancelling such an important match would have ruined the RWC and made a mockery of the event. Scotland simply pointed this out. No disrespect to anyone except the boneheads at WRC.

Match was played, Scotland were soundly beaten... Should be the end.

Scandal

Not a scandal. A bit of an embarrassment. We could argue the toss forever. If the money goes to helping typhoon victims, then good. Let's leave it at that and move on.
