I for one am sick and tired of way writers today describe decisions or people in sports and their accomplishments.
Better to trade him and get something in return than sit on their thumbs and lose him in free agency. They arent going to win with him, and the amount of money they will have to pay to keep him wont allow them to have any kind of team around him.
It's the name of the game now, money, and top talent gets paid, one way or another.

The Angels can ask all they want, but there is no way they will get the value that Soto did last year in the trade to SanDiego. Otani is a 2 or 3 month rental, and not player is worth giving up the proverbial farm for that amount of time.

By trading Ohtani now, the Angels have a chance to build a solid team and fill in gaps, or they can continue slogging along their current path of mediocrity by keeping Ohtani and following the team's front office method of fielding a team based on super-stars and jags (just a guy). Next year I don't want to see Ohtani wearing a Mets or Ranger's uniform, maybe a Giant's or Brave's but I do not expect him to wear an Angel's. Trade him Mr Moreno and move on.

I was born and raised in Georgia, and I have lived in Ohtani's hometown of Oshu since before he was born. He was classmates with my son through junior high. I desperately want him to go to the Atlanta Braves so that I can truly support the best team and the best player at the same time.

So, Ohtani probably goes to the richest team, which is, as always, the Yankees.

Yankees are not going anywhere either, why pay for a lost cause,he sport no champship ring, and will never be Mr October

This is what I mean, "desperately"? I mean let's be real here, he is just a baseball player and not some savior. It's just a game, nothing more, nothing less.

Hank Steinbrenner doesn't spend like his late father "The Boss" George

All I know is what Wikipedia says:
Yankees 7.1 Billion
Dodgers 4.8 Billion
Sounds like the Yanks are still living pretty large.

So why are you even invested in an opinion? Is everything a game to you?
Life is a zero sum game, if you want to look at it in the same flippant way as thinking Ohtani's situation is 'only a game' and have a condescending attitude toward Bill.

Went right over your head too! Otani's situation? What a joke, flippant? Hell yes! Get the feeling you have no idea what the word means.
Otani is going to get paid, no matter if it's the Angel's or some one else, and to him, it is "just a game", and one he wants to win!
He didnt go to MLB just to play, he wants a WS ring!

It is if that team signs him. His value beyond just his contract in endorsements is around 35 million, which the next 9 players combined come in around 14 million.
The value of Ohtani to a team in marketability is much higher than a Soto, or any player. Especially in a big baseball market, or a west coast team like SF.
There are a few teams out there, most certainly would want his on field and off field persona. He's a great guy, not a jerk. He's very popular and a huge plus for a franchise.

If he's traded, his new team will offer him a new, long term contract. If he likes his new team and contract, he'll stay. If he doesn't, he can test free agency. He isn't just a rental.
With all his millions of dollars in endorsements, he may not ask for a figure that sinks a team. He said that he wants to win a WS. To do that, the team needs to have a roster that can achieve. Why would he want a repeat of the situation on the Angels.
NOMINATION
I swear people here are just listening to East Coast media and have no idea of what is happening on the. Angels are 4 games back of a Wild Card spot with over 60 games remaining. Rays, Yankees and Blue Jays are all shaky at the moment and Boston is beatable. Ohtani has said over the last few days TWICE through SoCal media and wants to win the Angels this season. Stop dictating his life. If you hate the Angels, that is YOUR problem.

That's what the teams are worth, not how they spend
The Yanks are not as free-spending under new owner Hank compared to the old "The Boss"
They still spend a lot of money since they make a lot of money. But not like "The Boss" who often bypassed his own beancounters and go straight to the players and spent whatever it took to sign those he liked (that's why the players --and fans-- loved him, the way he plowed money into player salaries rather than just his own pockets)
His son Hank is not like that - he works within his means and his management team

Just don't sign with the Mets. They are snakebit and virtually always dysfunctional and their history with Japanese players has not been good. I see 3/4 teams in the running: Dodgers, Yankees, Mets and maybe the Red Sox.
