One of the great talents to ever play the game. The man was electric on the base paths. I always wondered whether he got along with guys like Donnie Baseball, and from the tributes pouring in, it seems he did. I wonder what was the cause of his death? Couldn't find it on the sports sites and it's not here either. RIP.

This is quite shocking, if there was ever a guy who you just assumed would live forever it was definitely Rickey.

He came into this world on Christmas and now he is leaving us at Christmas. Very sad news indeed.

It's been said that if you cut Rickey Henderson in half, you'd have two Hall of Famers. Which is true; his career stats are so incredible, if you divided them by 2 he'd still have a Hall-worthy resume. An incredible ballplayer and entertainer. RIP.

True great, such an athlete, wonder why he didn't age better? 65 is way too young as there was no cancer. Has a great family and was class act in retirement. Nobody EVER ran the bases more confidently than Rickey, and all-time record for runs scored and bases stolen etc., RIP!

He was my favorite player for awhile. Gone at a young age too. I was the league's top stealer when I was small and he was my big inspiration.

RIP. A great player, and 65 is too young to go. Still, he did what he loved, and was very good at it. More than most of us can say.
