Why only 2 weeks? This virus has just started to take hold in Japan. It seems irresponsible to consider holding any large events this year let alone in the next 2 months. Is the denial here really this bad??

Why not just hold it on schedule, but without an audience, like the previous basho?

The rikishi, officials, and staff can be tested beforehand, and the facilities disinfected.

Having it available solely on TV is tailor-made for these stay-at-home times we are living in.

Why not cancel it altogether? Because the show must go on to keep the government subsidies flowing...

Why not just cancel it altogether, given what we're headed for. This weekly postponing thing does nothing for anybody. Lots of other things have been cancelled completely.

Because the virus should cooperate with the schedule! This is regrettable!

Who cares? I can donate my fish coupon if it helps a sumo fighter get his protein.

Obesity is the number one reason people are at risk of covid-19. Better keep these sumos isolated.
