So the whole point of these games was just for ATTENTION and not a display of athleticism?:-/

He kicked it off with an emotional victory in the 200 - he took silvers in that event in the 2010 and 2014 editions - on Sunday night, when the hoist broke during the medal ceremony and the flags crashed to the floor.

I hope this isn't a bad omen for China.

In the last group games in men's soccer, Tottenham forward Son Heung-min's 63rd-minute goal gave South Korea a 1-0 win over Kyrgyzstan and set up a last 16 game against Iran, the other four-time champion.

So Tottenham let Son play in this mickey mouse tournament, with hopes he will get out of military service? But they lost to Malaysia, only beat Kyrgyzstan 1-0, and have to play Iran next. Should be interesting.

The rivalry between China and Japan in the pool is intense, and the countries had seven swimming gold medals apiece after two days.

Agree, really enjoying it! Massive gap with the rest of the field though. Thai, HK, Indian etc swimmers are a couple of sec behind (over 100m). Hoping athletics will be televised live on J tv.

It was Indonesia's bad, so how would it be a bad omen for China? Sun then went on to win again. It's a bad omen for the people in charge of the hoist, I'd say. Beyond that, I wouldn't look too much into it.
