When watching these two, there's a feeling that they're having fun. There's a spark and a smile that I don't see from Serena, Osaka or some of the other top players.

It's the same for all players when they first start - young players don't yet feel the weight of expectations

It's not until afterwards when people expect them as veterans to win more when they feel it

This being a news site in Japan, I expected the article to contain more about the success of the Japanese players, Nishikori, Nishioka, and Taro Daniel won their opening matches.

Emma will have to adjust with all the pressure the media and the social media will keep on putting on her. Hopefully she has a good support team, and we will see more great matchesnfrom her

Nothing to be ashamed about losing. Unless of course she starts pulling the victim card / race card / mental health card like a certain 'Japanese' female tennis primadonna.

Osaka and Raducanu have some similarities to casual viewers. Both were very young with grand slam victories. Both are biracial and are marketed as such. Both have fired their coaches after success. Both are pretty much considered the next generation of women tennis stars in a world so interested in not only their tennis skills but also their opinions on very sticky topics.

What remains to be seen is how Raducanu does in future tournaments and her reaction to the media.

It was expected. She fired her coach before signing up another.

She did not fire him. He was always temporary and she didn't expect to get past the qualifiers at the US Open. And she needs someone with experience of WTA coaching. But yeah, if you want to believe those tabloids and their sensational headlines... I have a feeling you're not even interested in or know anything about tennis.

Oh, you mean the Met Gala? You know, the one which was also attended by Serena, Naomi, Leylah, Maria and Felix? I have the receipts and the photos of them in their costumes. If only one tennis player could attend, it would have been Radacanu (or Daniil). The rest should have been at home trying to figure out why they didn't win the US Open.

I seem to recall Osaka losing in her first match right after her first Grand Slam title. This was before she went on to win another three GS titles. You seem to forget Radacanu has a decade or two in front of her. But you can thank me later.

One of the few sane posters who has something objective to say. As someone once said, the only consistent thing about tennis is inconsistency. So many players, like Barty, have done well, only to lose badly early on in some other big tournaments.

For Christ's sake, Radanacanu only started on the WTA tour this summer. And people are already criticizing her for not having won a WTA title yet!!!!! Her performance at the US Open has only shown that she has potential. We have to see her play consistently before we make further judgement.

Raducanu is British, her parents are from different countries. No idea who is 'marketing' her. She has grown up in Britain in school with all of her friends exactly the same. Only racist people say she is not British and focus on her parents nationality.

Osaka is different, she is American but represents Japan due to her own Career gains. Doesn't speak Japanese, doesn't care about mixed race people issues in Japan. I fail to see any similarity.

American is not a race nor is Japanese, so in that respect, Osaka is not biracial. Osaka has a Black Haitian father an Asian Japanese mother, making her biracial. Ethnically, I agree with you about Osaka being American, so we can agree she is multi-ethnic, a Japanese American if you will.

Raducanu has a mother from China who shares traits with Han Chinese and a father from Romania, so European traits on that side. This makes her, biracial. Ethnically, she is British, which I agree with you, but you know that ;).

Also, you could argue that Randucanu's media push, traditional or otherwise, hasn't really started as it has been such a quick turnaround from the US Open.

Again, I find Osaka's an Raducanu's similarities interesting to watch and I look forward to what they both do in the future.
