C'mon....enough with the sustance-less Tanaka articles! It's making me cheer against him moreso than I'm already inclined to cheer against most Yankees players.

He will be helped a great deal by having Kuroda and Ichiro as teammates. He is at the top of the sport and if he has the spirit.. he can make Japan baseball proud ... Dice K was a flop.. Irabu was a fat pig.. Matsui should have been resigned by the Yanks.. Ichiro is class act and glad he is in NY.. he does not make mistakes and will be good big brother for this highly anticipated talent that must win 20 games... have an ERA under 2.10 and take the Yanks to World Series.. if he is to live up to expectation.

Give Tanaka one year and in the bigs they will be going yard on him by mid season Yu isxa better all around pitcher!

Tanaka has a good work ethic, something that Dice-K never had. Dice-K looked good his last 3 starts for the Mets, he might have a big season left in him. Kuroda might be a good mentor for Tanaka, but don't expect much from Ichiro.

@Kimo, Ichiro is interested in one person, Ichiro. And do you really think he is still happy being in NY? He's not even a starter anymore. With off season signings of Beltran and Ellsbury, he'll be lucky to play in 100 games. That is if he isn't released or traded. Girardi has absolutely no faith in him, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's gone soon.

Yeisterday, Ranggers-Angels game in Anaheim, Yu was the starting pitcher. Looks like Yankees hig bonanza by signing Tanaka. Rumor is that Ichiro might retire from Yankees.

I haven't heard anything about Ichiro wanting to retire, but have seen that the Yankees were trying to shop him, without any takers. But if he feels underappreciated in NY maybe it is time to either demand a trade or retire. I'm sure he would prefer to be an everyday player somewhere else for $3 million rather than being a $6 million bench warmer.

Rumor about Ichiro comes from what he had said. He will do his best on any games he will be. So many speculated he will be out of Yankees, And some thought he will retire. But he is a RF and West Coast fans like him to be on one of West Coast teams which has tons of money. Hiroki used to be Dodgers pitcher. Tanaka is getting all attention. Where Hiroki san will move out? West Coast fans haven;t forgot him yet.

A few days ago there was story that Ichiro would like to play a few more years, didn't say if he meant in the USA or Japan. I'd actually like to see them both finish their careers in Japan. Would love to see Ichiro in a Dragons uniform.

Dice-K and Darvish both won 16 games their first season, both with good run support. With the heavy hitters that NY has, Tanaka should be able to do the same. But a weak bullpen might be a problem.
