That said, they're up 5-0 but will have to face Darvish again if they win this one.

It's time to put Ohtani back on the mound.

Goes on to show you that you can field the highest paid athletes on a team and still lose! It's not over for the Dodgers they have one more game before they can go fishing, but I must warn you, should they lose it will be a rinse and repeat all over again and the sports columnist will tear them apart.

Their pitching is garbage, though. (As is the work of most "sports columnists")

You need good pitching to win at this level, and winning 9-8, 10-7, etc. during the regular season doesn't bode well for the postseason. Ohtani can help them in that department next season, but they still need some more reliable pitchers.

I also think a lot of people are fooled by the media coverage of Ohtani, but fail to realize the Padres were the best team the 2nd half of the season, and it will in no way be an upset if they win the series.

Yea imagine what the narrative would be if Michael Jordan or Tom Brady always had great regular seasons but never did enough to secure a championship, despite being the most talented player at their position.

In fact that was the main criticism of Jordan until he finally learned to trust his team mates and helped create the conditions that led to the Bulls first championship.

...well, Shohei (and Mookie), series is still on so the ball is in your court...

Not over yet. To partially quote The Wolf from "Pulp Fiction," Let's not all start...You should understand the rest. The Dodgers are quite capable and probably will be favored next game and in a fifth if necessary.

Ohtani got his cherries. Just no cake.

Love it! All cherries, no cake!

Ohtani achieved pretty much everything this season, hitting so many milestones - this NLDS series would just have been a little cherry on the cake.

Dodgers fans would beg to differ but feel free to dream.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ohtani make it to the series, but I also prefer to support the teams with smaller payrolls. Players and coaches on those teams really earned it!

Beat LA !!

Hmmm … I would have to disagree. I would assume a World Series title would be considered to be the cake. Individual achievements would then be small cherries on that cake.

Ohtani got his cherries. Just no cake.

The Dodgers have been outscored 16-7 in the past two games by Padres who are paid $110 million less, leaving Ohtani and crew just one loss away from a most embarrassing postseason collapse — albeit a mighty short postseason for them.

Another example of Overpaid Athletes Underperforming.

Oh well. The Dodgers fans had a fun season collecting bobbleheads, didn’t they? Ohtani’s doggie is so cute!

Good riddance it shall soon be!
