I'm a native English speaker but this article is a foreign language to me. I thought I'd picked up some knowledge of baseball over the years but not enough to make sense of most of this. Still, it seems the fans enjoyed it.

This was a 1 game winner-take-all contest to see which team advances.

The game was very close the entire time until the 9th inning (The final frame of regulation play if you will).

By virtue of being the home team, LA batted last and with a man on 2nd base (Ultimately this proved unnecessary as the game was tied at 1-1) The batter hit the ball out of the field of play scoring the decisive run to win the game.

As written, it is perfectly comprehensible to most of us Yanks, but we are..... "unique."
