Ohtani set for pitching return Sunday night

We have nothing to lose but play spoiler. I hope Shohei doesn't overwork his arm.

I am wondering, considering where the Angels are in the standings now, if this is an unnecessary risk. Obviously the Angels know much much more than we do here (and this is what they do) but I can only imagine what people will think/say if Ohtani injures his arm. Regardless I hope he does well. (I wonder what his allowable pitch count will be)

Of course we are all hoping for the best but it is unbelievable in the extreme that the only way to determine if Otani needs surgery is to return him on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball against the defending champions at the end of a meaningless season. Seems like the Angels organization are trying to set him up to be noticed for a rookie award of the year quite honestly.
